My Stamp Momma!

I am sure if you are a regular on SCS you know I am talking about LORI CRAIG--you go girl! Lori was the featured stamper this week and it was my absolute pleasure to stroll through her gallery and find a yummy card to case. I have had the opportunity not only to work alongside Lori but also meet her IRL. Lori is a true friend who is always willing to chat and who takes an interest not only in you but also your family. Love you girl and a big CONGRATS.

I chose to case this kay-ute card and made the following changes:
1) patterned paper
2) stamp set and sentiment
3) in the place the pearls I used ribbon
4) in the place of the flower I replaced it with layered prima flowers and a decorative brad
5) instead of using a tag I used a strip of paper

Limited Supplies Challenge

I am not sure why sleep was not programmed for me today but here I am, up at the crack of dawn playing a Limited Supplies Challenge at SCS.

Todays challenge was to create a postcard like Valentine's Day card that was easily producible. I couldn't be more happier as I have been thinking about the design for the 2009 classroom cards for my children.

I have been eyeing some of my patterned paper recently and when I saw the posted supply list included red and pink I knew I had to use it.

Rules:
-pinks, reds, white, black or kraft
-limit the amount of layers and embellishments
-limit the hand-cut pieces . . . why cut it when you can punch it instead??
-your creation should be a “postcard” type of card

Here is my take: (be kind it is early in the morning *lol*--I've had a total of 3 hours sleep)

You'll notice I wrapped a strip of paper around the bottom of this labels 1 die cut. You'll also notice I highlighted an area on the heart with a white gel pen and outlined the inner part of the wings with stickles. Of course that is a step you can omit to make it an even faster card but I thought it would add some "sparkle".

Stamp Set(s): The Birds and the Bees (Kim Hughes Collection) by CHF

SCS Sketch Challenge

It has been so long since I "played" along with the SCS weekly challenges. You may have noticed that the past few days I have been later with postings. One thing I find about posting late at night is that I don't always get the chance to play along with challenges. From time to time I enjoy waking up early and playing along. Although I do know that some of those wonderful challenge hostess' post early, there is nothing more refreshing than grabbing my cuppa joe and creating something fresh just after I have had a good night sleep. The mornings around here are a little more hectic as my son has started K...so that means I often don't get to post first thing even though my creation was finished a few hours ago. I hope you understand *wink*...I still intend to post every day...it just may be a little later than usual.

Today's sketch challenge is FANTASTIC! I absolutely love Rox's designs and can hardly wait to complete them when she posts them. I am still hooked on Papertrey Ink's Beautiful Blooms and of course this colour combo! It is so yummy.

Card Recipe

Paper: Victoria Lace DP (Fancy Pants), Stamper's Select White (Papertrey Ink), Chocolate Chip (SU!), Kraft (SU!)
Ink: Soft Skye (SU!), Close to Cocoa (SU!), Chocolate Chip (SU!), River Rock (SU!)
Stamp Set(s): Beautiful Blooms (Papertrey Ink)
Accessories: Scalloped Square Punch (Marvy), Corner Rounder (SU!), Polka Dot Ribbon (American Crafts), Ice Rhinestone (SU!), Dimensionals (SU!)

I promised a photo of my clip it up system. I have yet to put the remaining items on it but I took a few quick snapshots so you can see the work in progress.

Take a peak at my growing Bella collection *smiles*

On another note, I was completely thrilled that all my cards on Etsy were purchased yesterday! I posted them on there because my friend encouraged me too (thanks Ang!). I never imagined they would actually sell *LOL* I have posted a few more on there and will be adding more as I get the chance. If only I could add more time to the day.

Because I love to stamp and you do too!

A FS Challenge and some west coast beauty!

Well I made it through the first day of K! I shed some tears and braved the mommy face for my boy but I tell you it was really hard walking home after that. I even had some of the local moms (my friends) poking fun at me "the new school mom" as I walked by them. His first day was good but I had to laugh when he came out of the classroom confessing "I was good for most of the time mom but I didn't listen at the end!" *lol*
I too had a new school year in full swing today. As many of you know, I am an online school teacher so I had the pleasure of talking with many of my families today, setting up their curriculum purchases and creating their learning plans. Not a lot of time for crafting today but enough time to download my vacation photos and upload my card as well as some recent photos of my west coast oasis!

I created this card for the FS Challenge on SCS. The original card by Heather
was the inspiration for this card. I choose to change the colour and ribbon along with stamp set. I am pleased with how it turned out. I absolutely LOVE this set Nichole!!!!

Recipe
Paper: Kraft, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Soft Sky, Very Vanilla
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Soft Sky, River Rock
Stamp Set(s): Beautiful Blooms (Papertrey Ink)
Accessories: Slit Punch, Corner Rounder Punch, Ticker Corner Punch, Dimensionals, Heidi Swapp Ribbon, Polka Dot Ribbon (May Arts)

Note: I enjoyed creating my own DP today!

These photos were taken at sunset! How lucky am I?

Have a stamptific day. (do you like my made up word? *lol*)

A Wedding Day card a la Sarah

One of my fav stamp artist, Sarah Vrolyk was chosen as the Featured Stamper on SCS. Her style is simple yet elegant. Not only do I love her cards but I also really appreciate her blog chatter!

I cased this cute little anniversary card. I changed the colours, added DP, changed the ribbon, used different stamps and added cuttlebug flower embellies with gemstones. The layout is essentially the same.

Because I just received my A muse stamps I knew I needed to use them for this challenge. The truth is I just needed an excuse to use them and Sarah is definitely about A muse so it was fitting.

I took two photos of my card and couldn't decide which one I liked better so I am posting both *lol*

Happy Wedding Day Card Recipe

Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Pebbles Inc. DP
Ink: Noir black (Palette)
Stamp Set(s): Bride and Groom (A muse), Happy Wedding Day (A muse)
Accessories: Cuttlebug (Provocraft), Olivia Alphabet (Provo Craft) Gemstones (Hero Arts), Rectangle Punch (Fiskars), Polka Dot Ribbon (May Arts)

Thanks for sharing my fun today. On that note I want to add a little fun too. Some time today I will be posting some freebies. It's not blog candy...it's just a little gift I would like to give to some of you. Stayed tuned for my post some time today! And be ready to answer QUICKLY!!!!

Origami Shirt Fun!

The other day I made this origami shirt card for the TLC119 on SCS but I never did get a chance to upload it. I figured a surfing/beach shirt card was in order for the area I live in. I keep mentioning I live in the sticks but I live in one of the most beautiful parts of the Great White North (aka Canada). Every year we get 1.5 million tourists in the area to see this:

So as you can imagine, when I saw the challenge I knew exactly what DP I was going to use and how I wanted this card to turn out. I just had to add Surf Ukee (short for my town's name) with the Karen Foster snap stamps. I figured this card might appeal to some of the tourists that visit our local craft fairs. After all who doesn't want a surf shirt card? *wink*

Fun in the Sun Card Recipe:

Paper: Whisper White, Summer Sun, Cranberry Crisp, DP (Karen Foster and Misc)
Ink: Noir Black (Palette), Summer Sun Craft, Cranberry Crisp Classic
Stamp Set(s): Beach (Pink Cat Studio), Snap Stamps (Karen Foster), Best Blossoms
Accessories: Coluzzle, Circle Template, Cuttlebug (Provo Craft), Tiny Bubbles Embossing Folder (Provo Craft)

Note: This card is 5.25x5.25

Stay tuned tomorrow for one of my most FAV bella/fella cards. I had a proud card maker moment when I designed that card and I have been chomping at the bit to share it with you.

Because I love to stamp and you do too!
