Wedding Anniversary

When I create stamp sets I think about: 1) it's use 2) it's versatility 3) it's ability to be built upon--I can't wait to show you what I mean!!! *wink* 4) it's ability to be used with existing product.
I created Wedding Day with the intention of making it REALLY useful. I included some sentiments in this stamp set that would be ideal for celebrating a wedding anniversary too since I know that wedding anniversaries are just as important as your wedding day--especially when you hit milestones like 10, 25, 40, 50, etc. In many of these cases, couples like to renew vows or come together with family and friends to celebrate these milestones and as such create invitations to invite everyone.

Before I share my wedding anniversary invitation with you today I just want to send a HUGE thanks out to all of you...for your support and your compliments. I also want to send out a thanks to all the PTI Designers who did an INCREDIBLE job with Wedding Day in the PTI gallery. I can't tell you enough how much it makes me smile when I see your creations using a stamp set I have created. It brings tears to my eyes. So keep it up and PLEASE, if you get a moment, send me a link to your card(s)/projects. I would love to see them.

The Inside of the Card

This is a quick card and easily reproducible.

Step 1
I cut the card to 5.25x5.25 and layered the card front a 1/4 smaller (the white paper is 5x5 and the patterned paper is 4.75x4.75) and rounded the corners of those layers.
Step 2
I cut a .5 strip of gold paper and layered ribbon over top.
Step 3
I stamped the oval and the filigree flourishes followed by "wedding" and "anniversary" and then cut out the oval.
Step 4
I adhered all layers with regular adhesive and the oval with pop dots. I also adhered the inner invitation with pop dots too.

Yes...I know that the 25th wedding anniversary is Silver *smiles*...I just didn't have silver cardstock.

Take Note: I have stamped on CDs and used them in my DVD player without a problem HOWEVER I am not an expert about this kind of thing. Today I received an e-mail from Carol G who said this about my stamped CDs:

What a creative idea. I would like to make a suggestion if I may. Many types of inks (even water based)can react to the protective coating on CDs and especially DVDs. This reaction can damage the contents of the disc and even make it unplayable. These effects can take a few months to become apparent. To be on the safe side use printable discs (they have an extra protective coating) or better still use a DiscPainter disc printer to safely label your CDs/DVDs.

I thought you might like to know that...as I said, I have had no problems so far.

Have a terrific day!

Wedding Day (2)

I am so excited about today's projects--yes 2 full tutorials!!!!

if you have been following along since the beginning of the countdown you know I mentioned I have some fun prizes in store. So I am going to kick off the fun today...make sure you read through to find out how you can WIN.

You may have noticed that I have a theme going on here. My absolute favourite colour is green so I am absolutely delighted by PTI's addition of Spring Moss. I hope you are too.

Candle Centre Piece
Candles are so elegant so it makes sense to use as or with your centre piece. Again, my goal for this release is to show you EASY ways to make your own wedding ensembles. The total time to make this project was 10 minutes and that is being generous! And you know what's even better than that? The project cost $1.25 CAD to make. If you add the base tray and the flowers it costs $4.50 CAD.

Step 1
Begin by stamping the large oval on a piece of white tissue paper in spring moss, followed by Wedding Day in black and August 8, 2008 in black too. Note: You only want to stamp on white tissue paper for a white candle.

Step 2
Cut out the image as close as possible.

Step 3

Glue the tissue paper to the candle.

Step 4
Wrap a piece of wax paper around the candle as tightly as possible and heat until the image darkens. Peel back slowly and ensure all areas have melted into the candle.

Tip: When heating do not apply heat directly over top of the image (the wax will run). Rather, heat evenly in a back and forth movement over the entire stamped surface.

Step 5
Attach ribbon at the bottom.

Supplies
paper: Stampers Select White Cardstock by Papertrey Ink
ink: Black Palette, Perfect Match Spring Moss by PTI
stamps: Wedding Day (Urban Design) by Papertrey Ink
accessories: Spring Moss Satin Ribbon by Papertrey Ink, prima flowers
tools: scissors
misc: tissue paper

Personalized Wedding Favour

Again, the key to making your wedding favours is making the task quickly reproducible with the least amount of steps.

Step 1
Cut a piece of cardstock into a square 7.25x7.25 and stamp randomnly. I am showcasing white and spring moss but I also added black at the last minute which is not shown in this photo.

Step 2
Next, I turned the cardstock square to form a diamond and folded the right side of the paper across centre (try and avoid creasing). Repeat with the left side forming a cone. Then I adhered the left side (to secure) with double sided sticky tape.

Step 2
Then I filled the cone (I put pebbles to show you the depth etc) but you can put candies, flower seeds, flower bulbs etc of your choice. At this point I folded the tip over the opening (again avoid creasing paper).

Step 3
Now that the main wedding favour is complete I added the final touches. I stamped the flourished circle and cut it out using the nestabilities circle. I punched out Sara and Thomas with the 1 1/4th inch circle punch and adhered it to the centre of the circle with a pop dot.

I also decided to test out Lisa's FAB tutorial and stamp the decorative square image directly onto the twill ribbon to keep with the flourish theme.

Lastly, I formed the ribbon into a loop and placed it onto the wedding favour using a glue dot and secured the label to ribbon with a few pop dots.

Another variation of the flourished circle. I know how some people are LOVING the 08.08.08 date!

My Official PTI countdown...(4)

Yes, you read that right! It's PTI countdown time for my newest release called Wedding Day! I have been anxious to post but have been awaiting my set (which arrived TODAY!!!!) That's what you get for living in the sticks. At least I have four countdown days *smiles*.

I am so excited about Wedding Day. If you have been seeking a wedding stamp set with possibilities this one will meet your match. I have designed it to work with invitations, thank you cards, wedding favours, wedding cards, anniversary cards and much more. One of the BEST features of Wedding Day is you can set the date and save it too!!! (that's a hint) I will be revealing more hints and tips as the days lead up to the release.

Today's project was created with purpose in mind. Having been married 8 years it has been a while since my wedding day, but let me assure you not a day goes by that I don't re-live that those special moments leading up to I do! I remember the initial planning days and wondering how I would get from point a to point b. A few weeks after my engagement, DH and I sat down with a piece of paper and started jotting notes. As the months passed I found I had miscellaneous papers everywhere. So to prepare those brides to be I have created a step by step tutorial to make your own wedding book planner...

Step 1
I found this terrific book at Michael's for $1 CAD. It measures 8.5x3.5 so I started by cutting a piece of cardstock 9.5x3.5 (I want so overlap to tuck over the edge). You can see I scored .5 at each end.

Step 2
Using Spring Moss, I stamped over the entire surface in a linear but spaced pattern. Then I adhered this to the front of the book using double sided adhesive.

Step 3
I tied some ribbon to the edge to "disguise" where the cardstock meets with the white edge of the book.

Then I adhered some ribbon to the inside of the book (right at the edge)...

and folded it over. This covered the vibrant green edge and created a soft muted edge instead.

Step 4
After I created the edge with the ribbon, I needed a creative way to cover the rest of the green.
I punched out a piece of cardstock...

and adhered it to the inside of the book. (see tab instructions below)...take a peek at that circle and what it says...

Step 5
Next I got punchy and created tabs for my book. Then I stamped them with important wedding preparation tasks and adhered them in the book.

Step 6
I wanted to decorate the front of my book and decided to use the large oval, the words Wedding and Day as well as the decorative bar to fancy it up! (Did you notice the decorative bar matches some of the stamps Taylor showcased yesterday???) After I finished stamping I cut out the oval. Note: This oval will work with the largest oval scallop nestabilities. Spellbinders is introducing a new oval shape (one that is more oval *lol*) and the chances are this stamp will fit in one of the new die-cuts.

Step 7
I decided to create a coordinating pen so I stamped randomly over a legal size avery label then...

pealed it off the backing and adhered it to my pen by rolling it.

Here is a close up of the finished book

Here is my final project

You'll note that I added two pieces of ribbon to the bottom of my book and stamped two butterflies on my focal image as an after thought to the tutorial. *smiles*
