I am trying my luck and crossing my fingers. :)

One of my favorite salad recipes is an asian chicken salad.

2 cans canned chicken breast
1 can of mandarin oranges drained
1 can of chunk pineapple drained
30 green grapes cut in half
mayo to taste

Mix the above together. Then scoop onto a bed of green leaf lettuce. Then, sprinkle on some chow mein noodles (the crunchy kind in a can). It is super good and very refreshing for summer. :)

I'm not too adventurous with salads - my fave is plain old lettuce, tomatoes, carrot, cucumber and a few slithers of red onion. Occasionally I add some grated cheese, grilled chicken breast or tinned tuna if it's to be a meal in itself.

Gosh...this is a hard question at 3:15 AM. Lemme see...

When I have ambition, I will make this one from scratch.

http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Broccoli-Cauliflower-Salad/Detail.aspx

When I don't, I buy one from Costco (and pretty much eat it all myself!).

Cheers!

Favorite salad huh? We don't really make any adventurous salads at our house. We are a straight out the bag family. However this time of year, I LOVE Panera's Strawberry Poppyseed Salad which is "made with fresh strawberries and blueberries, pineapple, Mandarin oranges, pecans and fat-free poppyseed dressing." I think I might have to get one of those today now that you have me thinking of it ; )

I just made a yummy pasta salad:
1 pkg. tricolor cheese tortellini (cooked)
1 lg. sweet red pepper, diced
2 cucumbers, seeded and diced
1 can chick peas
1 can rinsed black beans
1 can sliced green olives

Combine all and mix with your own or bottled Italian/vinaigrette dressing. Yum!

I have a friend who makes the best cottage cheese salad. I can't seem to reproduce it tho. It is cottage cheese and you chop up green peppers, onions, green olives, salt and pepper. It is very pretty and tastes so fresh and good. It is even pretty healthy. Other than that, I love broccoli salad and I can make that one, but I really prefer Cindy's cottage cheese salad.
As for stamp sets, I love this one (didn't get it yet) and anything else you design. My favorite SU set is Roses in Winter because you can't mess it up.
Thanks for the chance to get this wonderful set of yours.

My fave salad mix is romaine lettuce, orange and yellow peppers, zucchini, broccoli, sharp cheddar cheese, dried cranberries (for a perfect hint of sweet) and a few goldfish crackers on top (in place of croutons) with ranch dressing. YUM! I love it packed full of veggies!

Anonymous said...

I like to make pasta salad with any fresh veggies and I always add beans. My favorite stamp set would have to be Out on a Limb PTI.

Thanks for always having such inspiring projects on your blog!

My fav stamp set has got to be Fancy Pants Bella Brush for its ease of use being acrylic, so easy to see where you are stamping and also love the images and words.

My favorite salad out is Applebee's Pecan-Crusted Chicken Salad (dressing on the side). My favorite salad at home is a mix of romaine, spinach, iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, red pepper, celery, feta cheese, sunflower kernals and dried cranberries. Mix and top with small amount of Raspberry-Walnut Lite dressing. Fabulous and healthy...the best! I'd love this set. It's awesome and has great sentiments. You've done wonderful things with it. TFS!

I am so not a cook, so I will just say my all time favorite, go to stamp set is Stampin' Up's Lovely as a tree. It can be used for just about any occasion! Everyone else's salads sound great!

Hi Alli!
My favorite salad this time of the year is Cucumber Salad. It's super easy and we eat it right up in my family! Cut cucumbers, add some peppercorn ranch salad dressing, a bit of milk, and red onions. It's best if you leave it sit in the refrierator for a few hours so the onion flavor gets incorporated!

Thanks for offering up your cool set for blog candy! I check your blog daily and am always inspired!

Happy day!

What a great set! My favorite salad has the basics: lettuce, carrots, cucumbers. Then to kick it up, I love dried cranberries and walnuts! My favorite dressing is the organic balsamic vinagrette from Trader Joe's. But salads made at home NEVER taste as good as at a restaurant! Why is that?! :)

I'm not a big salad person, however, I'm a HUGE stamp person! I have to say one of my favorite stamp sets is Faux Ribbon from PaperTrey. I think I use this alot, just because it has some great sentiments that are a perfect size, and of course, those ribbons add just the smallest 'touch' to some of my cards. I love it! I would also LOVE this new set! Thanks for the chance to win!

I'm making 2 summer salads today. One is called Texas Caviar and the only one is a cheese salad. Love them both. Yum!!! Cynthia

romaine lettuce

Well, my favorite Stamp Set has to be any Papertrey Set. I love them all.

As far as a Salad goes, my favoite has to be the Spinach, Bacon, Strawberry Salad with Poppyseed Dressing.

Wow! I hope I get picked. I didn't order that set, yet. Tee hee.

My favorite salad recipe is a fruit salad. I use all sorts of fruit. Fresh, canned (drained), frozen. Mix it all together and add one cont. sour cream and one bag of melted mini marshmallows. OMGosh! It is so divine!

I love this set thanks for the opportunity. My favorite salad recipe is an easy one, romaine lettuce and everything that I can find tossed in, strawberries, olives, cucumbers, tomatoes, goat cheese craisins and chicken.

Val said...

My all time favourite salad is the "old fashioned" spinach salad. I love the one where you have the eggs, mushrooms, bacon and then the dressing is just mayonnaise and sour cream. It's great because you can make it low fat and it's just delicious! It's so sad when you can list a favourite salad, but not a favourite stamp set!! I have waaay to many favourites!!

Kim said...

That is awesome blog candy!! I just love this set, and would love to own it! lol

One of our favorite salads is one my husband made up! lol It's very simple and oh so tasty!

1 package of frozen tortellini (3 cheese)

italian salad dressing

parmesan cheese - to taste

chili pepper flakes - to taste

purple onion - 1/2 large

1/2 of each -green and red pepper, diced very small

1 small tomato, diced up very small

salt

pepper

Boil the tortellini, drain and put a bit of italian dressing on it, enough so they don't stick together. Put in fridge to cool. When cool add all other ingredients, and enough italian dressing to moisten all the ingrediants. Add salt, pepper, chili pepper flakes to taste. We use fresh parmesan and grate whatever amount we like for taste.

Give it a try, it's really tasty, and a fast salad if you have unexpected guests for dinner! We also do the same salad but with spagetti noodles, tastes awesome! I like mine spicy so I add quite a bit of the chili pepper flakes!

easy peasy recipe, you have to love tomatoes and onions though...

dice 1 large onion fairly small
peel, seed and dice 4 ripe tomatoes
dress with salt, pepper and vinegar and olive oil to taste

it's really simple and delicious with burgers or with fish

it's a dish i learned from a moroccan friend, so i call it mediterranean tomato salad, but she always just called it tomatoes in oil

maiahs_momma said...

hmmm...well, I will have to go with the salad recipe I think.

Mandarin Orange salad

1 pkg of baby spinach
1 tin of mandarin oranges
1 bottle of Renee's Poppy Seed dressing
4 good sized mushrooms

Put into a bowl the package of baby spinach, mix up the mandarin oranges with it. Chop up the mushrooms, thinly sliced and then add them to the salad. Toss...then add the Renee's Poppy Seed Dressing...toss again.

Eat, enjoy :)!

what a COOL give away. i love this set and all the sentiments, but haven't purchased it yet.

this salad is SO easy to make, and it's pretty to look at. guests will think you worked hard at it!

1 pkg 'spring mix' greens
1 small can chilled mandarin oranges
1/2 cup pecans
1 tub gargonzola cheese

mix the ingredients [you can add a little coconut, sliced strawberries, or use candied pecans too] with enough low-fat/cal raspberry vinegarette.

I love making taco salad at home, and it's something my stepdaughter will actually eat! Sometimes I use nacho cheese doritos instead of regular tortilla chips to add some extra flavor--maybe that's why she likes it so much.

My favorite salad recipe is:

1-Get in car
2-Drive to Applebee's
3-Order Oriental Chicken Salad
4-Take it home and eat it

I have seen the recipe for that salad but it is just way too much work for me :)

mudmaven said...

One of my family's favorites -
Ramen Slaw
Mix together:
1 Pkg. Chicken Ramen
1 Pkg. Cole Slaw mix or thin sliced Napa cabbage
3-4 scallions, diced
2 Tbs. Sunflower seeds
½ cup slivered almonds

Dressing:
½ cup canola oil (or vegetable oil)
¼ cup cider vinegar
¼ cup sugar
salt and pepper to taste
pkg. seasoning mix from ramen

I bring this for pot luck dinners as it doesn't spoil like regular coleslaw that uses mayo. To make it more "main dish" you can add shredded chicken to it as well.

My favorite salad is a fruit salad from my aunt. She used to have a great catering business in Salt Lake City.

Orange Honey Mint Fruit Salad

* 1/2 c. orange juice
* grated rind from 1 medium orange
* 1/4 c. honey
* sprig of fresh mint, minced, or 1 t. dried mint
* Cut up fruit: grapes, strawberries, fresh pineapple, etc.

* In small saucepan, warm honey and rind until thin over medium heat. Mix in other ingredients.
* Just before serving, add dressing to fruit and toss.

Dressing can be doubled, but make sure you have half as much honey to the amount of orange juice. Delicious!!

Oooh -- I think this may be the only set by you that I don't have yet! Okay -- Law of Attraction -- I have already won this set, and yes, it feels good! LOL! Okay... favorite salad recipe.

This is one that I kind of "made up" based on memory after having it in a little Greek hole in the wall near the condo we stayed at on a vacation in (drumroll, please...) Vancouver, BC! Your neck of the woods! Anyway, we just refer to it around my house as 'that Greek salad' even though I'm sure it's really called something else. Here goes. You need:

*several Roma/plum tomatoes, cut into bite sized pieces
*about half a cucumber, sliced and then quarter the slices
*about half a white onion, chopped
*Feta Cheese

Dressing:
1/4 c. red wine vinegar
1/3 c. extra virgin olive oil
salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste

Mix it all up, cover, put in the 'fridge for a couple of hours to let it marinate.

Yummy!!!! If you like tomatoes, that is!

I'm thinking coleslaw counts as a salad, so here goes:

BAKED Coleslaw (yep, you're reading that right: BAKED):

2 tbsp butter, softened
8 oz Cole Slaw mix (bag version)
3/4 cup coleslaw dressing (Marie's)
1 1/4 cup shredded cheddar jack, divided
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
3/4 plain bread crumbs
2 qt baking dish

Preheat oven to 400 degrees
combine coleslaw mix, dressing, 1 cup of the cheese, salt & pepper
mix until well blended
spoon evenly into baking dish
stir together bread crumbs, 1/4 cup of the cheese and the softened butter - mix well until blended and crumbly
spread evenly over slaw mixture
bake 15-20 minutes (should be golden w/bubbly edges)
let stand 5 mins & serve warm
(makes 6 servings)

1 can of sliced olives (2 cans if you really love olives)
1 small pkg of shredded carrots
1 red bell pepper chopped
4 celery ribs chopped
1 green bell pepper chopped

Mix it all together and chill. You can add lots of other stuff too... sometimes I put in grape tomatoes, cubed mozzarella cheese, cooked broccoli, parmesan cheese... lots of great options.

Once you coat the broccoli let it sit for at least 1 hour, to allow the broccoli to absorb the mayo.

My favorite salad of all time is my mom's potato salad. I just made it a few days ago for a cookout we had.

Linda Anderson's Special Potato Salad

6 lbs. potatoes (similar size & type)
1 bunch stick/green onions or scallions
1/2 jar Hellmann's/Best Foods mayo
7 slices bacon
3 tablespoons dried parsley flakes
2 pats of butter

Wash potatoes and place them in pot of water, deep enough that they are all covered by the water. Salt the water if you wish, and boil until cooked. Fork
should slide in and out when they're ready.

While potatoes are boiling, prepare bacon. Take slices of bacon and cut them into very small 1/4" strips. Cook these strips in the pats of butter and add parsley. Drain the oil. Then put the bacon and parsley mix onto a paper towel to finish draining.
It's nice to be able to set this aside for ten or fifteen minutes before handling it again, because it's hot!

When the potatoes are ready, drain out all of the hot water and replace it with cool water and a few ice cubes. Let the potatoes cool.

Get your prep area ready. Bring bacon/parsley mix, potato pot, onions, mayo jar, spoons, knife, cutting board, butter knife and trash bag along with a nice
big bowl for your salad.

Peel a few potatoes and cut them into the big bowl one at a time. After those few potatoes, add a spoonful of mayonnaise to the bowl. Chop a scallion and add
it. Then finely chop a scoop of the bacon/parsley mix and add it to the bowl. Mix. Then repeat this potato and ingredient mixing until you are out of potatoes.

Refrigerate salad until it is cool. Serve & smile!

NOTE: It is important to continue mixing the salad throughout the process, because it will be very
difficult to mix thoroughly otherwise.

I love the Playful Flourishes set by Close To My Heart. I use it for backgrounds, decorative, etc. I've even stitched over one of the larger designs on my sewing machine for the corner of a scrapbook layout that I loved.

I eat my salads at Panera. Their Bistro steak salad can't be beat. As far as a favorite stamp set goes -- once I get my stamps I separate them by theme so I don't have "sets" to speak of -- so -- my favorite stamp collection is fishing. I use them all the time. (PS -- those mailboxes look just like mine -- I surely could get some use out of them with my neighbors). Thanks for giving me a chance to win.

Easiest Bean Salad Ever:

A can each: kidney beans, green beas, wax beans, corn
1 green pepper, chopped,
1 onion, chopped
1 tsp minced garlic
1 C white vinegar
1/4 C sugar

Combine veggies and beans. Separately combine everything else and pour over the beans. For best results, let sit over night to combine the flavors. Great for picnics and potlucks!

Loooove the stamp set!

My favorite salad (my mom makes it for us) is:
ORIENTAL SALAD

4 c. shredded cabbage
6 green onions
1 pkg. oriental flavor Ramen noodles
1 sm. pkg. slivered almonds
2 c. cooked, cut chicken breast (optional)

Mix cabbage and cut up onion. Set aside. Mix flavor packet from noodles with 2 teaspoons vinegar, 1/4 cup oil, 1/3 cup sugar and pepper to taste. Brown almonds at 400 degrees (5 to 7 minutes). When ready to serve, mix salad with dressing. Crush uncooked noodles and almonds on top. Stir in and serve.

...just love these mailbox greetings!
My favorite salad recipe is really just that because my 6 year old son loves it. (He doesn't eat a whole lot of salad other than ceasar and this one.)

TACO salad

red leaf or romaine lettuce
cucumber
tomato (either grape or chopped whole ones)
sweet pepper, chopped

browned ground beef (1 lb for a large salad) +
1/2 package taco seasoning mix

crunched nacho chips (I always use the whole wheat Tostidos brand, but you can use any, or even cheesy Doritos)

Toss above with your favorite creamy salad dressing and serve.

Voila! Have a great day!

I love this set and would love to win it. I worked for the postal service for about 30 yrs. so it would be very appropiate. Broccoli salad is a favorite, the one with raisins and sunflower seeds. I like all kinds of salads.

fave salad--easy! There is a super yummy summer salad at Panera that I'm now making at home. I've made a few changes to make it my own.
romaine lettuce, spinach leaves, strawberries, blueberries, mandarin oranges, candied walnuts & Brianne's Poppyseed dressing. And if you want to make it a meal instead of a side add grilled chicken
Oh Yum! makes me think that this is what we'll be having for lunch today

One of my favorite salads is a fruit salad made with a can of fruit cocktail with juice , a can of mandrin oranges with juice , bananas , apples , grapes and any other fruit you like , mix in a container of whip topping and a package of vanilla instant pudding mix or you can use any flavor of jello mix instead of the pudding mix , oh so yummy !

I love salad! Spinach salad that is...not a fan of salad made with lettuce. I know! So picky!

Anyway, I use spinach, red onion, cucumber, real bacon smooshed up, some sunflower seeds or those walnuts they have for salads, and top it with Girard's Champagne dressing. Goodness! I'm hungry just typing about it! LOL

Favorite summer salad: Creamy italian pasta salad. It's a pasta salad with green pepper, tomato, onion, black olives with a tasty mayonaisse based salad dressing. It's great as a side dish or add pasta to it and make it a main dish.

Pick me!!!! And I'll post the recipe on my blog. :)

Okay; addendum/correction: add CHICKEN to it and make it a main dish.

(shaking her head: add pasta to a pasta salad; think before you typo, girl!!!)

My favorite salad is Greek. I make my own dressing using olive oil, some red wine vinegar and the greek seasoning from costco. I always have a jar of the dressing in the fridge so I only need to add cherry tomatoes, cucumber, red, green, yellow & orange pepers and feta then if I have it I throw in some of the tinned whole black olives.
