Do you have a copy of Card Style yet?

Paper Crafts magazine just recently released Card Style. It is a special issue that is a jammed pack with elements that define a particular style: fun and cute; clean and graphic; shabby chic and vintage; as well as classy and elegant! Cath over at Moxie Fab World did an AMAZING job defining each of these styles in addition to showing you examples of each.  Make sure you click on the links above to see each of the styles.

I have 5 cards featured in this issue in two categories that best define my style...can you guess? Yes...fun and cute and clean and graphic!

Today I am excited to share one of those cards with you...what style does it fit??

This year I am attending 3 weddings.  I have already attended one and have two more to go including my brother's wedding!! So as a result I have been making LOTS of wedding cards recently.  I also designed my brother's wedding invite and executed it without a hitch with my mum!  I promised to show it a while back.  I do plan to share it but wanted to blur out the info OR wait to share it until after the wedding which is less than a month away :)

Have a super day!  I plan to enjoy this gorgeous summer weather today.  I went for a 6KM run last night and was refreshed by the warmth of the season.

Hugs;

Life's inspirations.

Hope you have had a great start to the week.  If anything I have been enjoying homeschooling this week more than ever.  I think I am really in my groove right now and so is my son.  We have been following Molly the owl and working on animal habitats, lapbooking and more!

Today's card was inspired by life.  Hope you are inspired too!

Welcome winter...

Ahhhh a little snowman. There is something about the way Kim Hughes draws snowmen... it makes you want to cuddle them.

Again, here I am working through my winter cards trying to prepare for send out in December. I always have so many cards to get through and never enough time to complete them. As you may well remember, I attended a Christmas card class with my friend Glenda Wyatt from A*Muse during A*Muse-A-Palooza in July so I did get a head start...now I am just trying to finish up in a timely manner.

seasonal bliss

Only 53 more shopping days!!! And 30 days left before all my Christmas cards have to be in the mail. Are you feeling the crunch too?

A few weeks ago I was in my LSS and spotted the LOVELY Christmas Basic Grey line. I have to admit I love the BG Christmas lines because they are double sided. And for someone who loves to paper piece, I like to have more options with my paper--especially because the colours coordinate.

Today I created a simple card using adorable tree image from Winter Tree and last year's sentiment from Heart Warmer's (Kim Hughes Collection).

Shoe.

I have been away the last few days and after all the busy work am happy to kick off my shoes and relax. A few weeks ago my friend Sherrie Siemens made some cards using her new Graphic 45 paper. The funny thing is she used the same images I was going to use with my Graphic 45 paper too. So without further adieu, here is my take....

Easter Memories

Hello everyone! As promised...a stamped card! You'll notice a real mix on this card. Can I tell you this is the heart of my work. I {love} mixing stamps with scraps. I am an embelishment nut--buttons, ribbon, rubons...ack! I love it all.

What I adore about the stamped image was colouring the outline. It just adds a different appeal. Also, love these fresh spring colours.

Valentine's Leftovers.

I have a few leftover items from Valentine's day. And really, when I say leftover, I just mean that I didn't have the chance to post them before the 14th. That being said, I really feel that this card could be given to someone for their anniversary or just as an "I Love You" because you feel like it kinda card!

I just LOVE the lines on this cardfront! And so easy to create using your scor-pal.

Take It Easy.

So I am sure you know one. A person who no matter what you say and no matter what is going on keeps moving at lightning speed to do things. That is the person who when they are sick is busy cleaning the house and cooking and not resting--the one you have to convince to take a day off. Sound like someone you know? Yup, me too. (secretly laughing because I fit into that category)

An eagle, some stars and red, white and blue.

So I know the 4th of July is far away and of course many of you know that I am Canadian so you are probably thinking WHY 4th of July. Well two reasons: 1) I received this Kim Hughes set around the 4th of July but never got to use it 2) I was going through my paper scraps and came across a lot of American colours and just had to go with it. It never hurts to be prepared ahead of time and I look forward to sending this card to one of my American friends this year :)

A Simple Hello.

A simple hello is all it takes to remind a friend that you are thinking of him/her. Believe it or not, these are the types of cards that I don't often have hanging around in my stash. Today's card is easy peasy in 5 steps.

Step 1: Cut the cardstock to 4.25x5.5
Step 2: Cut patterned paper to approx 3.5
Step 3: Cut paper strip (1 x 4.25) and stamp sentiment.
Step 4: Stamp tree image on card and on patterned paper. Cut out tree top from paper.
Step 5: Adhere layers to the card. Note: I added dimension to the trees using a pop dot.

My Stamp Momma!

I am sure if you are a regular on SCS you know I am talking about LORI CRAIG--you go girl! Lori was the featured stamper this week and it was my absolute pleasure to stroll through her gallery and find a yummy card to case. I have had the opportunity not only to work alongside Lori but also meet her IRL. Lori is a true friend who is always willing to chat and who takes an interest not only in you but also your family. Love you girl and a big CONGRATS.

I chose to case this kay-ute card and made the following changes:
1) patterned paper
2) stamp set and sentiment
3) in the place the pearls I used ribbon
4) in the place of the flower I replaced it with layered prima flowers and a decorative brad
5) instead of using a tag I used a strip of paper

Limited Supplies Challenge

I am not sure why sleep was not programmed for me today but here I am, up at the crack of dawn playing a Limited Supplies Challenge at SCS.

Todays challenge was to create a postcard like Valentine's Day card that was easily producible. I couldn't be more happier as I have been thinking about the design for the 2009 classroom cards for my children.

I have been eyeing some of my patterned paper recently and when I saw the posted supply list included red and pink I knew I had to use it.

Rules:
-pinks, reds, white, black or kraft
-limit the amount of layers and embellishments
-limit the hand-cut pieces . . . why cut it when you can punch it instead??
-your creation should be a “postcard” type of card

Here is my take: (be kind it is early in the morning *lol*--I've had a total of 3 hours sleep)

You'll notice I wrapped a strip of paper around the bottom of this labels 1 die cut. You'll also notice I highlighted an area on the heart with a white gel pen and outlined the inner part of the wings with stickles. Of course that is a step you can omit to make it an even faster card but I thought it would add some "sparkle".

Kissey Birds

To start off, I'd like to congrats:
Blogger Rebecca Ednie who said...

I have actually been published once! I haven't done it again because of the others that didn't get published! It is a goal of mine this year to try again.

Rebecca please send me your snail mail and I will get your magazine in the mail.

Wow, 101 people responded! Thank you. I loved reading your comments. I plan to have a little segment posted on my blog in the next few days regarding publication. I sense that some of you would like to learn a little more about the process.
When I sit back and think about my purpose on earth I can see that it leads to the same thing over and over--Education. I am an educator and I like to teach. I also like to learn.
As many of you know I stepped down from some of my papercraft duties to focus on my family. It seems like a reoccuring theme for some other bloggers this year too. I mentioned before that I would still be around and still plan to post. That has not changed. But this year I plan to change my posts a little. Not all of them will be projects, instead I'd like to include a tip of the day from time to time to help other crafters with projects. Sometimes what seems obvious to me is not obvious to you and I want to ensure that what I do/what I create is understood. So please don't hesitate to ask me questions if you see a card or project and think "Now how did she do that?". No question is too silly. I promise.

Onto today's card. You'll be happy to know I used the goodies from my thematic collection that is sitting on my desk--you know the one--the Valentine's one I showed you the other day.

Notice I outlined the birds using a pink Copic marker.

Feminine Holiday Cheer

So yesterday I had a masculine card today I have a feminine card...almost sounds like language lesson on articles "le" and "la" *shudder*! That is SO the teacher coming out in me.

I just LOVE the new winter paper from October Afternoon. I have been waiting with baited breath for my goodies to arrive from Emma's Paperie--MY FAV online store for embellies and patterned paper. I'll blame enabler Melissa Philips who got me hooked on that store...if you like to buy online I highly recommed Emma's Paperie...you'll love how they package up your goodies, send you a treat and if you spend a designated amount each month you also qualify for free shipping/discounted shipping for us Canadians and a free kit!!

Joy!

Hello hello hello!
I know..it's not like me to miss so many posts in a month *grins* Believe me it's not like I don't want to post but life gets crazy several times of the year and this month is no exception. I am sure you know what I mean...Christmas parties galore, Church events, family gatherings, SHOPPING, card making, present wrapping, decking the halls, field trips, sports wrap ups, cookie exchanges, letters to Santa, fundraisers, performances...the list goes on and then you have your regular day to day stuff and throw in my report cards and out of town visits to the specialists *gasp for air* and here I am *lol*. Whoshhhhhh. That was tiring!

Anyways, I have a card for you today. And I can say I am in LOVE with it.

Christmas cards...

I promised I would share some of my Christmas cards...when I have a lot to mae I tend to keep cards as easy as possibly. Now keep in mind ribbon can be costly to send in the mail too so I tend to keep the cards with lots of embelishments for hand delivery. What I like about these cards is that the cards stand alone without the ribbon (because of the embossed box outline) but can also be dressed up using the ribbon. You can see I was playful with the ribbon and it's placement too. Also, you can change the look of each card because you can stamp the bells on different patterned paper. You'll note too that the hearts have sparkles.
