Think Pink. Think Hope.

Every day people hear the news "You have cancer". Cancer has touched us all in one way or another--either personally or someone you know. As October is closely approaching, I thought it only suiting to start making cards with one of my fav sets called Ribbons by CHF.

Yesterday I had the privilege of being able to participate in a Splitcoast challenge. It has been AGES since I did that--and not because I don't want to--just time!
The featured stamper was Terry--she has such an array of cards and layouts to choose from. I found a 3 circle card that I just knew would be ideal for my ribbons set. If you have never participated in a Featured Stamper challenge before the general rule is that you case something from the "stamper's" gallery and list the ways in which you changed the design.
So here goes...I changed the card by adding a scallop at the bottom as well as an additional panel under the scallop, I changed the colours as well as the stamps, instead of using ribbon I used a thin piece of patterned paper, and I used my nestabilities to create a lifted edge rather than a circle punch.

Sunday Tea?

Hello and happy Sunday! Today's card is a quick card--really one you can create in 5-10 minutes. I chose to create a "feel better soon" kinda card because lets face it the cold season is upon us *insert sigh*. We've already had it at my house and I am sure it will be back so in the meantime I am going to stock up on these sweet little 4.25x4.25 cards. And just in case you are new to my site and want to know how to create that edgy punch (the square outlines) on the card, check out the innie and outie tutorial located on the right hand side of my tool bar for step by step instructions.

1938 Suburban.

It's been a while since I pulled out the EP (embossing powder) and when I first saw this image I knew I had to make this classic car shiny. It's hard to see how shiny it is with this photo but it looks real classy.
I am actually a classic car junky. This summer my mum, the kids and I went to three car shows...okay one was driving right by the house (there were close to 100 cars) but the largest one showcased close to 800 cars. It was spectacular. My husband and I both have a dream to restore a classic once we retire. We both have our eye on a certain Porsche so I think we better start saving our pennies now *lol* So in the meantime I will just have to live vicariously through these stamped images from GM. You'll notice I paired this image with the Haunted Cosmo Cricket patterned papers--they just had that right "old" vintage feeling.

Winter Sleigh Rides.

Have you ever been on a horse drawn sleigh ride? We spent a few winters (when we lived in the cold part of the province) where they held an annual horse sleigh ride. It was amazing! It was roughly -25C below (-13F) and boy did we need some good warm blankets and hot chocolate to warm us up.

One of my favourite things of all time is matching unusual colour combinations where traditional colours are expected. Winter cards are often green, red, navy blue, white...well you get the point.
I decided that the Kim Hughes' Mocha Chica paper would be nicely paired with Aged Sheet Music Scrapblock TM inked in espresso.

You'll notice that I cut a strip from the front and added that strip to the inside of the card and placed the scallop edge to the front.

For the love of cupcake...

As I mentioned yesterday, my life for the past few days has been cupcake, cupcake, cupcake. You'll be happy to know I sent the second to last batch of cupcakes to school with my daughter yesterday. We only have a few left--thank goodness. I think it is time to stick to the good ol' stamp cupcakes from now on *lol*.

Doesn't that icing look delicious? Gotta love liquid pearls.

Happy birthday baby girl

Happy birthday goes out to my baby girl! I can hardly believe she is a year older. We held a party for her yesterday and all her closest friends attended. I tell ya, she has more Pet Shops than a girl knows what to do with...not to mention she received some today too.
We threw her a cupcake party--so I am cupcaked out. That's why I thought I would show you a present instead..and leave the cupcake for tomorrow.

This card was inspired by Kim Hughes. She has this style of her own. I love how she can stamp an image and refrain from colouring it. It's in me to colour images so I have been challenging myself to go out of my comfort zone. I also admire how Kim edges all of her paper. You'll notice that a bit more on my recent designs.

A belated scrap challenge

I completed the CHF scrapbook challenge from Sept 17th but had a delay in posting it. Here was the awesome sketch:

And here is my take on it:

I used the Pindot Scrapblock TM with espresso ink and then stamped the scarecrow using hazlenut ink. I love how this turned out. Customized 12x12 paper!

I used a Scrapblock to decorate these strips of paper, then edged it with brown ink.

Notice the edging--I brushed white and blue ink along the edges to give it appeal. Also, I used straw as a means of threading my button. You'll also notice that I used the polka dot backgrounder to dress up my paper strips as well as edging with ink. The "sweet" sentiment is a rubon.

I stamped pumpkin under my image using All Things Fall from the Rummage Bin line. I edged my arrow with espresso ink.

I made my tag using distress inks (blending) and stamped it with Lined Paper backgrounder, Beautiful (Rummage Bin) and All Things Fall (Rummage Bin).

Do you ever just have one of those days? Today is a scrapbook challenge over at CHF. I love those challenges...and I was all set to participate until I dropped an inkpad on my page! Back to the drawing board for me but make sure you check out the fab creations by: Kristine, Julia, Becky and Lesley.

Since cake makes everything better I decided to share this delicious card with you. I found this ADORABLE utensil set from StarLitStudio.

Let's Party, it's release day at CHF!

No more sneak peaks because the new Kim Hughes images: Comforting Hugs and Birthday Bash (see below) are now available at Cornish Heritage Farms.

Since it's release day I thought it only fitting to share "Let's Party". This is a quick card and so easy to replicate. I used one of my fav lines of paper Write Out by We R Memory Makers. I love the tattered look and the bright colours. What I love about this series is that they make mini 4 sets of 6x6 sheets on one 12x12 so whenever I create I can use a bit from here there and everywhere and create a hodgepodege of patterned paper. I couldn't resist using the striped paper for the party hats. You'll notice I also added some stickles for dazzle and edged the white cardstock with orange for appeal

A So Sketchy Card

I just adore Ally Cope's sketches--seriously can't get enough of them. I adore her out of the box style and sketch layouts. Have you played yet? If not I suggest you give it a try. The next time you are stuck for a layout, toodle over to So Sketchy and try something new and exciting. I paired this super cute sketch with the Kim Hughes Mochachica paper and stamps--a delicious combination.

Here is my take on the card...notice I replaced the scalloped edge with the flourish stamp from Mochachica.

Last week a new set of Kim Hughes singles came out. One of my favs is called Snowy Sophie. You have seen this sweet snowman before in the seasonal set called Heart Warmers.

Tips: 1) Tear the white paper (pulling towards you so that you get the soft edge) and apply the stickles along the tear line. 2) Outline a white image with copic marker B00 to create more definition.
