BLOG CANDY ALERT!!!

Wow where is the time going this summer?  August has been such a busy month 1) wedding 2) family vacation 3) yard work 4) annual teacher training 5) mini visit with my brother and his wife in their first house :)

I am currently completing my annual teacher training.  It's always fun to get into the swing of a new school year. This year's training is quite different too but in a good way.  I have a new role.  I am officially a special education support teacher.  And because of that I had an additional day of training.
I have been learning many new things and have two days left before I visit my brother and his wife in their first home!

As I have been on the road most of the month I have had little craft time.  I have a few cards to share some time next week but in the meantime wanted to offer up some blog candy.

So what is up for grabs?  As a special thank you for visiting my blog I am going to offer TWO bundles. Each bundle will include Take Three: Fall and Gobble Gobble.  That means you have two chances to win.

As many of you know I have been changing my life bit by bit and have regained my health through Isagenix (you can read my story HERE).  I am still doing great (hubby too) and I haven't gained any weight back even though we have been away from home most of the month (that is the beauty about Isagenix--it is portable and you can bring it on the road).
Anyways, in your comments I would love for you to answer ONE of these: a) suggest a fitness tip b) suggest a favourite meal or link to a fav low cal meal c) tell me your personal health and wellness goals OR d) you can just leave a comment about which is your favourite stamp set from the two above (cause I know not everyone is into fitness/health and wellness stuff and that is ok too).

I look forward to hearing from you.  I randomly draw names (using random generator) some time on August 31 so stayed tune and make sure to check back.

Hugs;
Alli

My tip is: work out in the morning before the day gets out of control. And my favorite of the stamp sets is Take three: fall. I love that wheat!!

Health and wellness, huh. I need to work on that, unfortunately I get so involved in the things I do it always gets pushed to the back.I really should do something about that. - My favorite stamp set is the Take Three: Fall. I too love that wheat! Good luck getting ready for school.

I don't have any specific "go to" meals, but I love anything grilled! A super easy healthy side is thinly sliced or shredded cabbage, drizzle with olive oil and vinegar, sprinkle onion powder, garlic powder and salt. Toss and munch!! Yummy

My favorite set is the take three: fall, but the gobble gobble is really cute too!

Lately my hubby and I have been trying out racquetball -- whoa, good workout! And I think Gobble Gobble is adorable!

But, I am so inspired by your and other's stories, so keep them coming please!!

My favorite stamp set is the Take Three: Fall - the wheat and pumpkin are fantastic!

love these sets, but i dont have them yet! as for fitness.....workouts are great, but i find having an active lifestyle keeps away the drudgery of workouts. hiking, biking, kyaking mixed with traditional workouts keep things fun:)

I would have to say that a turkey sanwich is a great go to lunch. Very low in fat. You can have quite a bit of it on some light bread. It fills you up without all of the calories! That said I really love the turkey in your new set. Thanks for the chance to win.

I am losing weight (slowly but still losing) and I have found that if I start my dinner with a nice big salad, I am not as hungry when it comes to the actual meal! And I love both stamp sets, my favorite is probably the Take Three: Fall. Thanks!

I find that if I exercise regularly and make sure that I get my 25 gm of fiber in a day, my weight stays the same. I think activity is most impt.tho. Congrats on your new healthy lifestyle. I am proud of you.

I'm not a health and fitness buff so I'll have to pick the stamp set. =) I LOVE the turkey one...Gobble Gobble!

I'll comment on the stamps as well. I love the Take Three: Fall set. So versatile!

No tips here as I need to work on this as well! Now that school started I want to get into the routine of exercising most mornings and would like to lose 30 pounds. I lost 50 a few years ago on WW but gained much of it back. Thanks for the motivation and the generous prizes!

It's important to find something you love to do in the way of excercise. My SIL lost a ton of weight recently by snowshoeing with friends. When the weather warmed, they turned to hiking. She's still looking and feeling great!

Thanks for the chance to win!

My health tip is actually about nutrition, and it is to cut as much simple sugar from your diet as possible. My family switched to whole grains a long time ago, but this past winter I also eliminated sweets and lost a lot of weight and felt wonderful. Summer ice cream cones have crept back into my diet, but a new season calls for new resolve to get back on track!
Thanks for the chance to win!

I really need to make time for fitness, but having 4 children is very time consuming, so I'll have to go with the favorite stamp set, mine is Gobble Gobble!! Thanksgiving is a favorite family tradition and close to my heart. My kids make headbands with feathers to wear and we have lots of other traditions every year!!

Thanks for the chance to win these amazing stamp sets Alli. Congrats on all your hard work at improving your health. My personal health and wellness goal is to tone up by walking more and to keep eating right. I like to eat natural foods and limit my intake of junk.

Anonymous said...

A fitness tip I need to repeat to myself is that there will be days that you do things opposite of your fitness goals....however, the next day is a new day and you can continue on in spite of slip ups without beating yourself up or giving up completely!

I love both sets but Take Three is my fave. I LOVE autumn!!

Okay I had a baby a few months ago and really need to start shedding some of this weight. A few of my goals right now are

1. Hit the gym 3 times a week
2. Quit eating when I am not hungry!

Okay as far as your fab new stamps, I am really liking the adorable turkey! It looks stinking cute.

It's a good life!

My health and wellness goal is almost met! Last July I took up running so I could lose weight (the walking wasn't doing it). I have since run an 8K and a 10K race and have lost 35 pounds - wanted to lose about 43 so I am almost there!

Wow! Thanks so much for the chance to win! I love your blog and the continued inspiration you provide us with! As an exercise physiologist, I recommend finding an exercise that you ENJOY! Maybe things you can do with your husband or with your kids because you will be more likely to stick with it if its something thats fun for you (not just another "task" in the day).
Good luck!

Jackie said...

I take my dogs to the bus stop with us in the morning and when the boys are on their way, the dogs and I begin our journey. Some days, I would rather not be walking...but I'm already there. The dogs always keep me at a good pace and I can burn alot of calories and the dogs get exercise too. We all win.

I make an amazing biryani with brown rice and loads of pulses in it, very filling, good for the cold weather because of the spices and healthy too. Wellness tip, save the planet and loose the pounds by walking or taking a bike instead of the car. Thanks for the chance at winning.

My goal is to get disciplined. I know that I need to exercise, but I'm just not disciplined enough. I'm a web developer, so I sit all day, then go home and do more web work - sitting. I need to get moving! Thanks for the inspiration and the chance to win.

After doing a family weight loss challenge (to lose 10% of your body weight in 6 months), and losing 25 lbs.. my best fitness tip is to NOT have snacks in the house. The only sweets we have now are frozen yogurt, regular yogurt, and 90 calorie granola bars. That is IT!

Also, my favorite meal is baked chicken legs, seasoned with only olive oil, rosemary, garlic, salt and pepper, baked on a non-stick tray alongside red, orange and yellow peppers (sliced), red potatoes (cubed) and red onion (sliced). YUM, and pretty low-cal.

When shopping, I park in a spot that requires me to do some extra walking! While walking on my treadmill, I watch my favorite sports teams play (Cowboys, Rangers, Mavericks, etc.), and sometimes, I get a little too wrapped up in the game...almost falling off the treadmill, lol!!!

I would love Gobble, Gobble! I want to create a peacock out of that turkey!

Tamara said...

get your workout done in the morning so that when you are tempted by other activities in the evening you haven't missed out on exercising.

park farther away from the mall or any shopping location to get an added walk in your day

Always travel with a healthy snack in your purse/car so you are not tempted to buy something while out and about.

Hello Ally! I've read with great interest your journey with Isagenix, and I'm very happy for your success! I am quite overweight, and having just turned 52, I'm "feeling" that weight more and more, in my joints, in shortness of breath, etc. I "need" to do something, but I'm struggling with deciding what will work for me. I've never had success with "diets" per se, when I've successfully lost weight in the past it's always been more of a "frame of mind" and "change of lifestyle" thing, if you know what I mean. Anyway, I'm babbling here, let's see, as for a tip for you, I can just say that when I want to feel full and satisfied I tend to turn to protein. Such as a hard boiled egg, some cooked chicken breast, or a spoon of peanut butter. These types of food help me feel full and don't lead to binge eating. I wish you continued success in your journey!!!

September brings a lot of change for this reason and one thing I've added to my list of goals is to start exercising even if it's just a few days a week. I know that it is extremely important but somehow I always put it on the back burner as I take care of someone else's needs or if I do have a free moment I'd rathre by stamping:-) Thanks for the inspiration.

First, I like the Take Three stamp set best; I've been wanting to get into making Inchies and this set would be perfect! Second, I'm very 'into' health & fitness and as I grow older, it's harder & harder to exercise as I'd like. I have finally accepted that I will never be a size 6 again but still do not eat red meat or full-fat dairy and exercise as much as I can; most important to me is my blood pressure & cholesterol, both of which are super great....so my tip is to not worry about your size or your weight but be very aware of your stats.

Janice McDonald said...

I love, love, love "Take Three: Fall", the wheat is so lovely! As for fitness regime, I am too getting back into it and making myself a priority first thing...and my favourite low fat, high protein is an egg white omelette with spinach, tomatoes and feta cheese...it works great for breakfast, lunch or dinner!!

Tammy Q Howell said...

Oh my goodness that turkey in Goble Goble is so cute!

My favorite quote when I was losing weight was, "Nothing tastes as good as thin fills." I just love that. I am trying to lose some that I have gained recently. Never give up!

My fitness routine includes riding the Lifecycle in my basement at least 3 times/week and walking the dog as often as I can. Regarding food, I try to watch my portions and I won't "waste" calories on "store bought" baked goods. I save my indulgences for ice cream, good chocolate and home-baked goodies. A good balance seems to work well for me.

I love both stamp sets, and thanks for the chance to win. Karen L.

Fun blog candy! :)

I love this simple potato and kale soup and my husband loves it as well! :) It's pretty healthy and I usually add more kale and less sausage (or none at all).

In a large pot, heat some oil over medium. Add 1 diced onion and cook until soft, stirring, 2 to 3 minutes. Add 1-2 cloves of minced garlic and red-pepper flakes (this is omitted with my hubs); cook unti fragrant, 1 minute. Add about 5 waxy potatoes diced into 1/2 inch chunks and about 4 cups of broth (I make my own broth so I adjust depending on flavor); bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer until potatoes are tender, 10 to 15 minutes. I mash the taters in the pot a little to create some texture (or you can blend 1/2 of it). Add kale (1 bunch) and sausage (I use Italian Sausage but Polish Sausage or Smoked Sausages would be tasty as well).

I lost 50 pounds about 6 years ago and kept it off!! My best tips are: 1. Gradually eat smaller and smaller portions 2. Drink lots of water 3. Delay treats. Notice I didn't say don't eat them. I would challenge myself to delay eating a treat I'd bought by 1 day, then try to repeat that the next day and so on. Even I'd you eat the treat eventually, think of all the treats you didn't eat!

I have been on a quest to make changes- I have made some (but am still working on it). One big thing that I have been doing is zumba- I LOVE it (and I am not necessarily a dancer). I get a great workout and leave feeling great. The scale is not cooperating but I know that's about to change because I can feel a difference- my clothes are fitting better and I can tell that it's working. Thanks for the chance! My goal is just to keep with it- so many times I have given up on an exercise program- so my biggest goal is to prioritize my time in order to keep it up.

I am not a super food conscious person, but I do love to work out. Whether it's hiking or yoga, I try my hardest to get 5 days a week of intense physical activity in (at least 2 hours on those days), in addition to my usual walking to and from work and home. I eat what I want with some limits: dessert is two squares of chocolate rather than a whole ice cream cone, and must add some veggies in every meal! I think as long as a person has physical activity and eats with moderation, fitness is possible! I also love all of your stamp sets! I have worn out my Take Three: Spring already.

Hey Alli! Well firstly it's great to hear you're keeping in good health!
My tip is actually about all the naughty snacks - it might sound crazy but don't ban them! You'll only end up craving them even more and then eating loads of them only to feel failure! Instead, just allow yourself the occasional treat! So long as you physically exercise too then there's no harm in it - honest!
Another tip - instead of crisps (potato chips) try thinly sliced parsnips roasted in an oven with a sprinkle of salt - YUMMY!
Hugs,
Aimes

Anyway, I am trying my darndest to eat better and not soooo much during meals. I am also starting to take a multi-vitamin which I do need. The exercising will come later.....wink, wink.
But as my grandparents always said....everything in moderation.
Continued success....and hugs!

I participated in a 3.5 month stint in a fitness bootcamp. Learned alot of tips, worked hard, and lost 8lbs during the process. Doesn't sound like alot, but I'm very happy with it. I've found that keeping a routine schedule of interval training with a variety of fun exercises keeps me motivated to maintain my program and to eat healthy. After all that hard work, why would you want to negate the benefits by eating poorly? Of course, you'll need rewards for all that hard work and I'm not one to turn down a hot fudge sundae as long as it is done in moderation. =)

My fitness tips: take the stairs whenever possible and resist buying tempting treats (it's much easier to be strong one hour a week in the grocery store than to resist 24/7 when the goodies are calling your name from the pantry).
