Some Berries & Alli vs Questions Round 2

What a day! It started off great but about midway through the afternoon a migraine developed and I was a little under the weather for posting my card. I am back...and don't you worry I am including a card for you to look at too.

The Wednesday Challenge is a Sketch Challenge and I had a fun time with this design! One of the things I did for this was sketch my design right away. When I saw there were four boxes this just popped into my head. I immediately sketched it. Then I referred to the examples Roxie had included for us to look at. I liked her card and decided to go with that idea for the right side of the card. What I mean is, I liked her clever way of filling the space. Next I opened up my box of paper scraps and chose a few that would coordinate well with "strawberry" colours. As a final step, I layed all my pieces on my Basic Grey Magnetic Precision Mat and played around until I liked what I saw. If you are thinking 'Girl, WHAT IS A MAGNETIC MAT?", let me first warn you to take your wallet out and then I will tell you it is your next MUST HAVE purchase. Simply put, it is a magnetic mat with magnets that allows you to reposition things precisely. I like it because I can walk away from it, come back, reposition and walk away again. In fact, I have another card sitting on it RIGHT NOW. A card from Tuesday's challenge. There is something ever so slightly off about it and I will eventually get it right *lol* I believe the mat was created for scrapbooking but it has a lot of potential use for cardmaking too.

Thank You Berry Much

Alli vs the Questions Round 2

  1. I was wondering where you get your ideas for cards?

I am always on the lookout for something new so I often draw from things I see around me. Would you believe I also draw a LOT of inspiration from scrapbook page layouts. All you do is make a smaller version of it.

  1. Do you, or have you ever thought of selling your cards? Is there a reason you do or don't?

I have sold my cards before but not recently. In fact, I even sent one of my cards to one of my blog followers because she loved it so much *smile*. I will likely try and sell some of my cards over the summer in the local outdoor markets/fairs. Sometimes I just like to keep the cards to giveaway to my friends and family.

  1. Where do you turn when your mojo is sleeping? (what do you look towards for inspiration, to get new ideas, that kind of stuff)

Yes, that mojo does like to sleep every once in a while. A quick surf through a new magazine, website, or even catalogue can wake up a sleepy mojo. My absolute FAV magazine is Chocolat available in Canada! That magazine can get ANYBODY’s mojo going. It is full of inspiration.

  1. How much time a day do you spend stamping? You seem to generate so much work (which is another reason I love your blog -- so much eye candy every day.)

I spend between 1-2 hours a day stamping…even when I am tired, perhaps even the sign of a true addict. It is hard to do a lot of stamping with my 3 and 4 year old around. Sometimes I just pull a late night or sometimes I work in short intervals throughout the day. Of course on my DH’s days off I am lucky to spend 3-5 hours locked away in my stamp room! It is often those days that I get the most accomplished.

  1. So my question to you is how do you pick your colours for all your cards.

I choose my colour combos based on my images. I am inspired by current fashion, bedding, home décor, packaging, DP, you name it!

Because I love to stamp and you do too!
Alli
