A card design I quite like...

Can I just say I am LOVIN' the questions people are asking as well as the personal goals they are sharing too! Wow, I feel honoured that so many of you are willing to ask me these questions and share your goals. This is some seriously SWEET e-mail!

Today I am sharing a card design that I really like. I have shared it before but it just goes to show you that a card does not have to be completely reinvented each time you make it. As crafters we sometimes think that everything we make has to be new and fresh. Just like my good ol' Petal Prints stamp set, "if it ain't broke don't fix it".

I made this card for a workshop I attended the other night (*waving* Hi Lynn!). Lynn asked me to do a card or project that showcased pearl ex. Now pearl ex is one of those products you buy with excitement and then think "What can I do with this...?". I really like pearl ex. I just don't use it that much. So the challenge for me was to incorporate pearl ex in a subtle way.

I began by stamping my solid butterfly image in VersaMark. Then I used a pearly pearl ex powder and brushed over the image with a stipple brush. Then I stamped the solid butterfly image again, this time in Cool Carribean, stamped off on a scrap piece of paper and then stamped over top of the VersaMarked pearl ex. The result, a shimmery butterfly! As a final touch I stamped the more detailed butterfly image over top. I really love the smooth silky butterfly. It is really hard to see it in this pic but if you have the supplies I suggest your run off and try it. You won't be sorry you did!!! *smile* Oh and btw, if you are a SU! demo you will be happy to know I didn't use that ribbon during my demo *lol* I know how we tend to feel about contraband during a demo!

So are you saying that you really stamped this butterfly 3 times? It is really beautiful. You do such incredible work. Thanks.

That's a sweet card Alli. I love the paper piercing behind the butterfly. It shows of your butterfly beautifully. I like your closure of that card as well.
