Take Three: Summer Day 2

Welcome back to day two of peaks from my newest set Take Three: Summer which will be available from Papertrey Ink on May 15th.  I'm not sure about you, but I have been surrounded by sunshine, green leaves, flower blossoms and warm air for the last few weeks and it has put me into summer mode.  I love lazy summer days where I can kick back with flip flops, tees and capris and enjoy the day for all it has to offer.  I love the sound of the birds chirping, the lawn mowers going and the smell of BBQs cooking something delicious.  I am an avid gardener and so the prospect of creating my own oasis came true last year.  If you followed me last year you know I took a BIG break from blogging so that I could begin my dream of creating a yard HERE, HERE, HEREhttp://allistamps.blogspot.com/2009/07/birthday.html, HERE.  It was truly that experience that inspired me to create a series of stamps for all seasons.  I love the changes each of those season's brings with them.  I am fortunate that my stamp room faces the front yard and I can watch "nature at work" and be inspired!

There is nothing more exciting than a splash of colour and a fun layout.  I absolutely love mixing bright trendy colours together. I also enjoy using "oldies but goodies" from time to time.  I adore shrinky dinks.  There is something so fun about stamping images/sentiments on shrinky dinks and heating them until they shrink to 1/2 the size.  They are just TOO CUTE!  I like using shrinky dinks as fun accents on cards but also as focal jewelery pieces too.  Because the rounded square images are larger I like the ability of changing their size and as a result decided to create a card using them.

Step 1: Use the impression template to add texture to card base.
Step 2: Stamp bird images and sentiment using StazOn on clear shrinky dinks.  Punch out using square punch.  Heat for 2 minutes and let cool.
Step 3: Using scallop nestabilities cut out felt and Raspberry Fizz cardstock.  Using scallop die cut, create a scalloped edge using True Black cardstock.
Step 4: Stamp Spring Moss cardstock with flower image using Ripe Avocado ink.
Step 5: Cut a strip of ribbon and a strip of kraft cardstock.  Adhere all layers and attach ribbon and shrinky dinks.

On YOUR Birthday

I strongly believe that less is more!  You might notice that about my CAS style.  "White" space can be intimidating but it is also liberating.  This flower image has amazing potential.  It can be coloured, it can be embossed, it can be sparkled and sprinkled.  It can be outlined, cut out, flipped and raised.  And while I have stamped it in colour, there is something absolutely stunning about it in black...especially against kraft and with a shade of white.

Step 1: Cut a card base measuring 4x4 from a clear sheet.  Cut a 4x4 layer of Ocean Tides, 3.75x3.75 of Stamper's White cardstock and 3.5x3.5 of Kraft cardstock.

Step 2: Stamp flower image and sentiment using True Black.
Step 3: Shade white around one edge of each of the flower petals.
Step 4: Cut strips of True Black and Ocean Tides.
Step 5: Adhere all layers.

I have been creating clear cards for quite some time but Nichole created a fab video that gives some fab tips for creating clear cards HERE.

Great card. The second one is my fave - terrific CAS card. The black on kraft is so striking. I've never tried clear cards before - will have to try.
