Sweet Valentine. Yes the last one!
I was in Michael's in January when they were first putting out the Valentine's items and I spied a very CUTE little shovel. I remembered I had a white metallic pail at home that would go perfectly with it. Now the thing about pails is they are round and putting paper on a bucket (unless you are doing modge podge) takes 1) patience 2) skill. And well let's just say the ribbon won. I am actually very pleased with how it turned out tho. What I like about this sweet Valentine's project is that you can fill it up with anything your heart desires: candies, gift certificates, home spa kit, kids toys, even man stuff!
I provided a few close ups for you to see the embelishments I added to the bucket.

Hi. No stamping required.
Anyways, this is a quick post today. I created this card earlier this week using the adorable Night Light collection by October Afternoon. Everything you see on this card is from that collection--super duper easy to make especially since the back of one of the patterned papers was lined (helps with the sticker letter placement). I often buy collections to make scrapbook pages but have to be honest that I really enjoy making a ton of cards using the supplies too.

Colourful Birthday Wishes
I have had a few questions regarding Tags for Spring. Nichole revealed a few of the images I contributed...there are also a few more in the set :) I look forward to creating some projects using this set in the future.
Today's card is another simple one layer card. Can you tell I was on a roll with the one layers? I created this card using the same letters HERE. It was also the day I created THIS card. So as you can tell I put the circle and the letters together and went through my scraps pile and came up with this:
using my FAV PTI cardstock and Core-dinations cardstock too.

Happy Valentine's Day
I woke up in the middle of the night a few weeks ago and had this vision of Pine's rustic branches and hearts. So of course knowing that she had a branch that could easily double as an "l" I quickly sketched out my vision. The next day I created one layer of "sweet love".

Let's PARTY!
So did you check out Nichole's post today? (teehee!) For anyone who has known me since elementary school you'd know that bunny is part of my life story! I used to doodle it on every piece of paper and even wrote a story about that sweet lil' bunny (mon petit lapin). Nichole also shared the leafy circular background. I thought I'd share that I {heart} those leaves--they were inspired by leaves on my PJs! Perhaps I'll even share a photo one day.
Have you been following the 2nd anniversary giveaways?? Make sure you partake in the 1st annual Papertrey Bunny Hunt!
Not only is it fun to look for those cute bunnies but also to look at those amazing projects that the DT has created using Tags for Spring. Nichole has all the details in her post.
Ok, onto today's card...
I have been getting creative with my scor-pal. In fact, all you need to do is look back at my last few posts and you'll see how I have been "changing" it up! I spent a good 4 hours one day last week creating a bunch of cards and found myself drawn to my scor-pal and a variety of stamps and product. I had two cards pubbed in January's "Cards Magazine" and received a box of goodies that I just HAD to play with including the ultra fun birthday line called Surprise from Scenic Route. I also broke out my Just Right stamps!!! I {heart} stamps from Just Right Stampers--especially the alphas. The possibilities are endless!! Imagine all the words, expressions and sentiments you can create in many different sizes.
I scored the edges around the sentiment to make it pop out. What was really fun was that this "ledge" was the perfect place to put the "let's party" chipboard sentiment.
Note: If you want your card to be a perfect 4.25x5.5 you'll need to score it approx .25-.50 larger (so 4.5-4.75 rather than 4.25) to account for the fold. Of course it all depends on how much you score it. Play around and create a prototype first :)
I actually looped the paper and placed the candle inside for some added birthday pizzazz!

1 Layer Thank You
The other day I posted a fun button card HERE using Out on a Limb and Polka Dot Basics. I actually created today's card (with both sets) the same day but a more simplistic version and also one that can be easily mass produced. It actually reminds me of a card that you would buy at a high end boutique or one of those "paperie/stationary" stores because of its simplicity.
Although it is very simple, I really like how it turned out. I plan to create a variety of these cards in different colours and package them up and give them as gifts.

It's been a long time coming...
Here are a few of my fav examples of Shapes by Design:hinge card, punch card, pattern card, pocket card, two step stamping (masculine card). If you are looking for even more ideas feel free to browse the archive from Feb 2008 from about Feb 5 to Feb 15th.
Not only do I like the shapes in Shapes by Design but I also *LOVE* the fonts and words for the sentiments. Dawn McVey made me proud--she showcased a lot of cards using Shapes by Design sentiments in the months following the release. I can't tell you how excited and happy I am for her now that she is releasing her own set this month!! I hope to do some justice with her set like she did with mine.
So here we are, 2009, a year ago I was sharing this very set for the first time and now it is one of those sets at the tip of my fingertips, a go to set.
I had a lot of fun creating line patterns with my scor-pal. I left just enough space between the three lines to stamp my sentiments. While I have a second isn't scor-pal a GENIUS idea? I love this tool.
You'll note that I brushed the ink pad against the lines and edges for detail. Also, the sentiment I love you comes from Mailbox Greetings.

My last So Sketchy Sistah post
It's rather funny how this card came to fruition. I had stamped the polka dots on this clear sheet and heat set it. I wasn't sure how I was going to use it but just wanted to "try" something new. When I received Ally's sketch assignment I was toying with the idea of using my Valentine's inspiration basket and pulled out a few materials. I laid out my patterned papers and embelishments and was deciding on the layout when I spied that clear sheet with the polka dots (which was not originally intended for this project). It all came together perfectly.

Cardstock: Stampers Select by PTI, Clear Sheet by Cornish Heritage Farms
Patterned Paper: Scenic Route
Ink: Snow Cap by Ranger

Again, thanks for this wonderful opportunity Ally!

Wise Owl Book Tutorial
Here are the supplies you will need:
- computer paper
- polka dot basics and wise owl stamp sets
- cardstock and ink
- needle and embroidery floss
- tape
- corner rounder
- other: markers, ribbon
Next, use the corner rounder to round corners.
Cut a piece of cardstock 4x5.25 and stamp it. Heat set to dry. Now prepare your computer paper by cutting several sheets to 3.75x4.75. You are free to add as many sheets as you would like but keep in mind that the thicker the book, the smaller the paper needs to be cut (adjust accordingly). Score the center of your papers.
You can either stamp a variety of quotes on your computer sheets or you can leave it blank--the choice is yours.
Pierce through all your computer papers (you may have to pierce through a few at a time if you have lots) using a needle or special piercing tool. Center it over top of the inside piece of cardstock (the black one you see above) and pierce through the cardstock too. Repeat at the bottom. You'll note that I pierced the paper 1/4 from the top and the bottom on a foam mat.
Once you've pierced through all the layers top and bottom, thread the pages to the cardstock using embroidery floss.
Tighten the floss by pulling it through the back of the cardstock and adhere it with tape.
Once the embroidery floss is taped down adhere the black inner layer to the inside of the red cardstock.
I used the scraps leftover from my inner to make polka dot strip on the outside. I also stamped my image and sentiment. Then I coloured my image. I added the final touch of ribbon and adhered it to the front of my mini book. You could add buttons and die cuts or keep it simple with a stamped sentiment.
If you have any further questions regarding this project either leave them in the comments section of this post or in the convo box to the right and I'd be happy to answer them.
Have a super day!

PTI Stamp Designers' Favourites
Are you ready to celebrate day 3 of Papertrey Ink's anniversary countdown?
I am absolutely THRILLED to announce that I am returning to Papertrey Ink as a stamp designer. As many of you know I had stamp sets released through PTI last year but stepped away to commit to other design work. This year I am fully commited to sharing projects using a variety of my PTI stamp sets (old and new) so stay tuned.
Today, each of the stamp designers was asked to share their favourite PTI stamp set. The 2008 designers were asked to share their favourite stamp set that they personally designed, while the new designers (congrats girls!) are picking their fav PTI set. I am sure it comes as no suprise to learn that my favourite set is Wise Owl. Wise Owl was the very first set I designed for PTI and it was also the very last set that I shared for my 2008 Urban Design release. What I really love about this set are the endless possibilities--the fun owl faces, the mini owls mixed with the large owls, the flowers, the fun whimsical greetings mixed with the wise greetings and so much more!
Here is a quick summary of some of the projects I have created using Wise Owl
Examples: Flower Fun, Owl Card, Out for Publication Sign
Out of the box examples: Clock, Reindeer, Ghost, Home Decor, Barrettes, Necklace
And here's a new project: A mini note book.
I'll be providing a full tutorial on Thursday so make sure you check back.
