A Giveaway!
I just wanted to share that 3 of my cards were featured in the most recent issue of Card Creations, Quick & Easy Vol. 2 (Dec 2008)“Birthday Wish” p. 29, “Hello Dear Friend” p. 49, and “Teacher” p. 74. In fact, this volume is packed with online designers whose names you are sure to recognize. There really is nothing more exciting than picking up a magazine with your own work in it. For those of you who have never submitted--because you don't have the nerve, because you are afraid of rejection, because you don't think it is good enough, because you aren't crafty enough I encourage you to GO FOR IT! To be honest, I am always surprised at what cards they do take. Also, submit more than one--submit lots! I have had rejections too. But look at that as constructive criticism and learn from the experience.
Here is my fav of the 3 cards accepted for this issue...
Ok, and now for the giveaway--a free copy of Card Creations Quick & East Vol. 2! All you have to do is leave me a comment telling me if you have ever submitted a project (anything) for a publication call. If not, are you planning to? What's stopping you??
I will draw a name using Random.org and post the winner on Sunday morning.
Have a super day.
Alli

I've never submitted anything for publication...I am much better at borrowing ideas than coming up with them!
Nope. Never submitted for publication. I have entered for contests at my local stamp camps and have won. It's so fun! Maybe one day I'll submit some for publication. That would just be amazing. Thanks for offering the candy Alli!
I've never done it - I'm terrible at photographing things - blurry, dark, you name it, that's what my pictures end up looking like! If they want the real deal, it would mean getting something in the MAIL and I'm terrible with that also!
I have done 2 submissions and made it to the top 10 on one but not published. I'm still trying!
I submit when I can - when I find time to create 'spare' stuff. It's funny - I submitted some work a couple of months ago, and included a 'thank you for being interested in my work' card. Well, the project hasn't been accepted, but the thank you card has been! I agree with you Alli - you never know what they will be interested in.
I've submitted a long time ago, but I got slack and stopped. Maybe I should give it another try... :)
Yes I have submitted cards and have gotten several published. I always send about 15 at a time since like you said you never know which ones they will pick. I have a stack right now getting ready to go to Just Cards. I love the card you did! Sherri
congratulations to you!!! I have never considered submitting anything for publication because I think that my cards are too simple and just not sophisticated enough!! But perhaps your little book will give me some inspiration!!!! ;-)
Many congrats!!! That is so fabulous :D I have not submitted anything in a long time, but I have been published twice. My first was a special publication called "Creative Cardmaking for Scrapbookers" and the other was "Take Ten".
Always believe in yourself and you just need to keep trying!!!
I've never submitted anything. One reason is not knowing where to look for the card calls--how do you know what they want. I guess I need to start subscribing or getting some mags regularly. It is on my list of goals that would be great to accomplish but I actually need to try :-)
I've never submitted anything...yet! That will be in my 2009 plans. Thanks for sharing your beautiful work!! Happy New Years!!
I have never submitted anything to a magazine and most likely never will as my stamping and creative abilities are poor. I do well by CASING, but to come up with a design like you do, is impossible for me. Congrats to you and thanks for the chance to win this magazine.
Cheryl Sims
I have never submitted for publication because I don't know how. I even emailed one of the magazines I subscribe to in order to get the submission details and dates, but haven't heard back from them. I would *love* to submit some cards, but don't know where to start.
Wonderful for you, you cards are amazing. I have never submitted for publication, I am still in the learning phase but who knows what the future may bring.
Nina
I submitted a layout for publication once many years ago. I often think that I should, but never seem to do it. But, maybe this year I will try to submit something again, it can't hurt!
Love your blog and your creations!
Hi Alli!
Yes, I have submitted something for publication and it got accepted!! I'm waiting to find out if some other cards I submitted to another publication have been accepted. I was soo excited when I found out!
Yes, I have and have been very blessed to have had them published, including a few 2-4 layouts. I have stopped sending into magazines and think I want to start doing it again. Thanks for reminding me the joy in doing this. Blessigns
I echo your comments on submitting items for publication. You just never know -- probably 15 or more years ago I was published in several craft magazines and books and even was flown to Chicago twice as a "craft expert" for book photo shoots. What a fun time. Now I've recently begun submitting again -- we'll see how it goes. (By the way, if my number's picked choose another -- I already bought that issue ;) ) Thanks for all the inspiration!
It's been a long time since I have submitted anything, it just never really occurs to me anymore. I don't like writing up the instructions, so I guess that's what holds me back mostly.
I have never submitted a project for publication but I have promised myself that 2009 will be the year!
Thanks for the blog candy offering.
Teresa
Nope! Never submitted!!!!
But it is on my list for 2009!!!!!!
Love this place...
I have never submitted anything. My husband tells me I should. In 2007, my cardmaking was kind of put on hold to take car of family members who were ill. My son is suffers from epilepsy and sjogren's syndrome and we are just now getting started in some investigation into surgery. So I don't know how much I will get done. I do enjoy looking at the magazines and make cards when I can. One day I hope things will get back to "normal".
Have a great day and thanks for a chance to win.

Congratulations to you! I have submitted one layout, but that's it. I felt it was good enough to submit, but I haven't felt that way about other things. Maybe I'll have to take your advice this year.
Thanks for sharing.
Congrats on the publications.. One of my new years resolutions is to scrap and make cards more and try to get my things out there. So I am going to try try try...
No, I haven't submitted anything before. I'm not sure I will as I don't have the confidence to do it. And since I don't, I don't feel it's worth the time and effort. But I do love looking through the publications and seeing those names I recognize...like yours! I LOVE your style so much. Congratulations!
Congrats on having 3 cards in one publication. In the 16 years I have been stamping, I have never submitted to a publication. Not sure why I haven't tried. Thanks for the opportunity to see your creations in print.
No...not yet! Still working up the courage and building my resistance to rejection!
Happy New Year!

Oh to have your creative mind! Congratulations on your cards!
Oh Alli, thanks for the encouragement. I have never submitted anything for publication, but that IS going to change this year. I will be trying over and over again.
Congratulations to you on your publications!
Hugs,
Karen
Congratulations! I have never submitted anything, but I don't know why.
Kudos on your cards! I love your work and stamp sets.
One of my paperart goals is to upload more to share and submitt them to contest and cards. I would someday love to be on my pti team! or any team of papercrafting for that matter but pti would be my top pick:)
I just posted a card using wise owl, I love that set. It was for my ds(age 8) he cracks me up!
I have another project in the works with that set too.
Thanks again! God Bless!!
I have not submitted anything yet. . .
great card! love the bright color mix! thanks, lisa k in tx
Congratulations Alli. It has to be an awesome feeling to see your cards in print. I have never submitted anything for all the reasons you talked about. Will I? Who knows.....
Thanks much
I've never submitted anything for publication...quite honestly, I rarely have time to make more than what I *need* at the moment. I'd sure like to start submitting some things for publication, but don't know if it'll ever happen. I have 3 little ones (oldest is 5-1/2) and another due in April, so I've got my hands pretty full right now as it is.
Hey Alli congrats x 3!!!! It is so funny you are asking this question because a few days ago when we were at the book store and I was looking through the card magazines I thought I need to submit some things. Then I actually said it out loud to my dh and dd and they both said aaahhh yeah...lol. So this is one of my goals for 2009. I am not sure what has kept me from doing it sooner but that does not really matter.
Hope this year brings many more blessings your way and TFS.

Hi Alli,
I have submitted poetry and short stories for publication, but not cards (yet). I just need to get myself my organized LOL. Too many items on my to-do list... Anybody else have that problem?
Susan
Congrats on the pubs! I have submitted/pub'd and took a long break from it and just started up again...crossin' my fingers :)
Congrats on the publications, Alli! I have submitted and had a few things published. I need to submit more instead of sporadically like I tend to. Have a great weekend!
Alli how awesome to be published! Not one but three of them. I just love this card for a friend. It's so cheery and bright. Ok I thought you were writing about ME!! I have tried to be published, but I know one day I will just say do it and maybe I'll see mine in a magazine too. Thanks so much for a chance at the inspiring magazine. OH if I win will you send the magazine before you send it? Happy New Year!
I have not submitted anything for publication or anything else. You could say I am so critical of my work when I do it on my own so I like borrowing ideas. I have been told by people how much they like what I do but the critical of myself comes in to play. You might say because my father was an artist (a very good one!) and he was so critical of his work that I feel it spilled over to me.
I'm too chicken to submit anything. Also, the thought of them throwing it away if it's not picked saddens me.
I've never had the desire to enter anything for publication. I'm more than happy just CASEing everyone else!
Congrats on being published again! Woohoo isn't it such a thrill? I've had cards in Take Ten a few times. I'm just putting the finishing touches on a set of cards I'm sending to Stampers Sampler tomorrow morning ... I sure hope to get published this year. Seems I got so many rejections in 2008 and was feeling deflated but finally got up the nerve to try again. It's a new day, new year and one should never give up. Thanks for a chance to win - count me in.
Congrats! This is a sweet card- love the colors & style!
It has been a few years since I've submitted...I know I should...but I just seem to let the time slip by.
My congrats on publication as well as getting so incredibly organized on your craft room. What an inspiration, and so detailed.
I have submitted but have yet to be published. I believe it is my photography holding me back.

Hi Alli, congrats on being published! Thanks for a chance to win this magazine.
I submitted a couple of cards a few years ago to Rubber Stamper magazine. One was published (a photo Christmas card). That was a huge thrill. I keep meaning to submit, but I forget. I should try again.
i have never submited anything. i want to ...i don't know why i don't. i really do not know how to even go about it, hoenstly. thank you for offering up this publication.....i would love to win it! ;)
Wow, great card.
I never submitted anything for publishing. I just don't think my creations are good enough to be published. And I don't have the money to buy many things for scrapping. And I have the idea that if i really want to make great things, I have to buy expensive (and most of the times those stuff are just gorgeous)I just have to buy stuff that I can't afford.
No, I've never submitted, but that is on my personal list for this year---I'm going to do it---congrats on getting three cards in one issue! Very nice!
Congrats on having your cards published. I have submitted a couple of cards, but nothing came of them. I think it would be great to be published, but I hate the feeling of rejection, so I have never tried again. I also don't know where/when to submit items (except that one time I found a card call online).
Congratulations!!
I have never submitted cards to magazines---maybe in the future. Thanks for the chance to win.
Linda Peterson
Way to go! I've never submitted anything myself but was part of a "group thang!" that was submitted, once. Parts of it were published (unfortunately, not mine, but that's OK). Maybe someday I'll be brave enough...
I've only submitted a card to our local stamping and supplies store for a contest they were hosting once. To my surprise, I ended up winning. But I know I only do it as a fun hobby, and definitely don't have the talent many of you out there have.
No I've never submitted anything for publication. I guess I don't feel that I am as creative as others. Maybe I will venture out this year!
Carol
Thanks for the encouragement--submitting something is on my "goal" list for 2009! I just have trouble thinking so far ahead! But I am gonna do it!
Thanks for the chance to win the mag, too!
LeAnne
Congrats on the publications of more of your cards! I'm not surprised at all! It's fun to read the magazine and recognize all the names. I have not submitted something myself. . .why not? Cause I'm usually CASEing someone else. Maybe someday. When I have more free time.
Thanks for the shot to win!
Never submitted and just not sure I will. I think I don't because I really want to keep my creative activities just for the act of creating and not approval of others. Thanks for the chance to win!!
Congrats on your cards being published! I have never submitted anything because I always look around and like other people's creations better than my own. I also end up casing other people's projects, so I'd never feel comfortable submitting that work.
I've never submitted... for the simple reason that I'm afraid of rejection and fear that I'm not good enough.
Lame, but true.
The thought of having something accepted seems like an incredible delight though!
It's enough to have me re-thinking... ;O)
How exciting!! I have not submitted anything yet. I have the intention to do so, I just havent taken that step yet.
No, I have not submitted anything for publication yet. I guess I never really thought that "I" could be published....I guess I need to at least try, right?
Thanks for a chance to win the catalog.
~Lacey Stephens
Congrats Alli on being published. I may try this sometime this year. I`m not sure how to go about doing this but I will find out.
Hugs
Heather
I have not submitted anything for publication, mostly because I have seen the fantastic projects they do publish and don't think I can compete with that. Maybe one day, with much more practice. I did once submit a double page spread to the contest at the Scrapbook Expo, but was not a winner.
Never had the guts to send anything in. I'm to afraid, maybe I'll try to send something in the near future. Thanks for the chance to win. Very cute card, love the colrs.
I tend to send my cards into magazines and enter them in for competitions and I have had a few winners... now I should try publication... just need to think of myself as a designer I soppose!
Thanks and Happy New Year, Kim :)
I never have, but hope to at some point. I am still new at this and find I still lack some originality. i would like to hone my skills first (oh, and unpack all my moving boxes) before jumping in. But you are right, there shouldn't be any reason not to!!
k
DO NOT ENTER ME IN THE DRAWING :)
I just wanted to congratulate you!! Your cards look amazing!!!!! How fun!!! :)
i've not got the courage to enter one of my creations for publication i totally enjoy looking at what you make they're georgous ( ibdi )
Hi Alli,
Love the card as always! I do have to be honest and say that I have submitted in spurts - several times in the past year, but I just can't seem to get there. I also have to admit that its been disappointing for me not to have at least one thing recognized, but life goes on and I do plan to submit again this year and I will post that up as one of my crafting goals.
I have actually been published once! I haven't done it again because of the others that didn't get published! It is a goal of mine this year to try again.
I'd be so nervous I'd fear the rejection so probably not sure if I'd submit anything?????
I guess I figure, what am I doing that's really that different, although I do like my cards. Maybe this year!
I've never submitted for publication. The closest I've come to garnering public opinion other than from my friends and relatives, has been donating stamped items/sets for benefit auctions. It's been a great learning experience and I'm really excited and thrilled now when I'm requested to supply specific items because of the feedback the organizations have gotten and requests for more of my work.
Gail S.
Congratulations! I agree, it would be wonderful to see your own creations published.
I submitted a scrapbook layout years ago, but haven't submitted anything since. I guess I'm a little scared and a little lazy:o)
Congratulations on being published! I never submited a card for publication because I live in Romania and most American magazines don't accept submissions from other countries. In fact I don't even know a magazine that does. I did apply for a design team that did't require living in US and I am now waiting for their answer.
5 or 6 years ago, I sent 3 cards to a magazine and they printed all three! And I never submitted again. Now that most of the publications want emailed photographs, I shy away because my stamping is far better than my photography/computer skills. Maybe this year....
I haven't submitted cards for publication yet, but it is definitely something I'd like to do in the future. Your cards have definitely inspired me in the past - I love this creative cardmaking journey! Thanks for the chance to win this great magazine.
I'm way too chicken to submit anything. Maybe 2009 will be the year I get the courage to submit!
Have a great day!
Cute card. I haven't submitted anything for publication as of yet- I guess fear is holding me back. I look at the cards in the magazines and think I could do that but I'm not good with rejection. However, I could set that as a goal for myself!
I never have either! Maybe this year!
That is one of my new years resolutions. I won't know if I don't try, right?!
I've never submitted anything, for all of the reasons you mentioned in your blog! Maybe someday....but I SO enjoy reading the magazine to see other people's creativity! Thanks for the chance to win!
Congratulations on having your cards published. I have never thought of sending my cards in to see if they would be published. I don't buy the magazines so I didn't know you could do that. It is something to think about. Thanks for sharing.
Congratulations! I only submitted twice and that was at CKU conventions-card contests and then they keep your cards. Would love this magazine...thanks for the chance.
I've never submitted a card---yet! Maybe one day I will. Congratulations for getting 3 published in one issue! What a thrill it must be for you.
One of my craft goals for 2009 is to submit...no...not just submit, but to get published! I don't know why I haven't tried before, probably because I just never really knew the resources or the "ins and outs," but this year I'm going to get there!
Thanks for the advice and encouragement on submitting cards. I haven't submitted any yet, but have thought about it.
I haven't submitted. Probably because of time more than anything. Hey... maybe that can be my new year resolution! lol
I haven't submitted anything because most of what I do is based on someone else's designs! I did win an honorable mention once in a national digital scrapbooking contest, though...it was so fun! Thanks for the chance to win this magazine; I've been eyeing it for a little while now. Janine
I have submitted one of my "creations" for publication...to Correspondence Art and blessed to say that My card was chosen for their premier edition! Thanks for sharing your creations with us! Your work is inspiring!
I have never submitted before. I guess I'm the type to think my work isn't "good enough". Your work is beautiful and thanks for sharing.
Congrats Alli! THREE?!? That's awesome. I've submitted a few times. No luck. Which makes it harder to keep trying.
Alli...CONGRATS!! That's sooo incredibly AWESOME!! No, I've never submitted because I don't know where to begin? That would be a dream of mine for sure--I just never knew how to go about it. FILL ME IN, please?!!! :) Lol. I'd certainly be on cloud 9 if any of mine were accepted. I'm so happy for you!!
I've never submitted but have thought about it lately. I guess I haven't because I haven't found out the "rules" for doing so. Maybe this will be my 2009 resolution! Thanks for the inspiration, Alli!
Cute card!
I can never find any Scrappy magazines when I'm out looking!
Nope..never even tried submitting anything. I'm still a beginner and it really shows when I see what the rest of you can do! But I keep on trying! LOL
Thanks for the chance!
Congratulations on having three cards in this issue. I've never even considered submitting. I can barely find time to do more than a quick card most weeks. I cannot think about venturing into the world of being published yet. Someday...
Hey Alli!
Happy New Year! I'm so excited for you looking at your newly organized work space--yeah, what a great feeling, huh?!
Ok, have to tell you that I finally submitted a few things this fall and had an acceptance from Cards magazine...coming in March! Yes, what a thrill and a reinforcing feeling that "they like me, they really like me!", blush!
Hope all is going well on the home front for you and yours. Thanks for your wonderful comment on my SFYTT card posted at CHF...what a compliment coming from YOU!
Hugs,
Amy
Hello, Alli, and Happy New Year! :) Yes, I have submitted something - one thing. To CARDS magazine. They didn't publish it, but I am just starting out so I didn't really expect them too. No hard feelings. :) Congratulations to you, though! You're such an inspiration! Thank you for the chance to win.
I did submit a couple of times, but that was it. It would be great to find a place that would help give some tips because I don't think I did it right.
Congrats! I can imagine it would be great to see your work in print. I can imagine it so well you have inspired me to give it a try. The only thing is what is the best way to know who is calling for entries? I haven't heard of this before. Any info is greatly apprectiated.
Thanks for your constant insperation!
God Bless
Catherine M
I've never submitted a project for publication yet... I guess the only thing that's stoping me is - me.. I don't have enough confidence in my creations... :(
IfatArt
I was trying to find this issue so I hope I can win it!
Thanks for the opportunity!
In the summer when I was on vacation and could scrap i was surfing the card magazine sites and ended up sending some stuff into Cards Magazine and then emailed me a month or so ago and are going to publish one of my cards in their March 2009 edition! I am so excited and the card is using PTI stamps! Thanks for the chance to play!
congratulations on your publications!! i have never submitted anything for publication... i feel like i still have a long way to go before i can be considered. hopefully i will get there someday.
thanks for the chance to win the magazine! :)
Congrats on being published. I have never submitted anything. I feel I'm very far from those who are published. I am proud of myself that I just finally got the nerve to start a blog 12/1.
