One of my favourite techniques is rock n roll. I also love the kissing technique too.
Rock n Roll: stamp image using lightest colour of ink followed by dark ink. I usually roll the edges of my stamp on the dark ink pad to achieve the look below.
Kissing: Stamp a solid image (the "silhouette image" in a set--it's the filled in flat one) on an ink pad and then on a patterned stamp (like a backgrounder). By apply the two stamp together (kissing) the solid image picks up the pattern from the patterned stamp. Add colour variety by inking your patterned stamp in a different colour than your solid stamp.
The leaves below were stamped using Adirondack butterscotch (the light colour) and terra cotta (the dark colour around the edges). I stamped the acorns using latte.
