Wise Owl (3)

Thank you for all your comments. I just LOVE reading them. I wanted to let you know that I purchased my PaperClay from Michael's here in Canada.

This past February I attended CHA. I saw so many amazing products and projects. I was especially taken by the altered clocks on display. I couldn't believe what some paper, embelishments and stamps could produce. I immediately purchased a clock (for $1.99!!!) ready to alter...
About a month ago, one of my talented design teammates Dawn Lusk showed us some amazing clocks she altered. It was at that time that I decided that I would finally do something with my clock.
Fast forward to today. I created this colourful owl clock for the kids room. As both of my children have been watching over my shoulder the past few days (I think they like the owls!), I thought it only suiting to create something for them.

I began by collecting my supplies including this clock I purchased from the discount bin of a big box store. I pulled the clock hands of the front and prepared it for a new look. Some people like to sand and paint the underneath, I like to sand mine and prepare the surface with a good spray adhesive--modge podge also works.

Next I prepared the "new and improved" clock front. You can see from the photo below, Iused the awesome Frenzy Rumble paper from the Write Out Collection by We R Memory Makers. What I really like about this collection of papers is that this 12x12 paper is full sheet on one side and 4 mini 6x6 sheets on the other. That is what makes this paper even better for this project. I lined my Circle Shapes by Tonic in the center of my paper and cut.

Here is a close up of my cutter at work.

Then I stamped my owl images (check out the owl bits!) and coloured them with my Copic Markers Y17/YR23/YRo8 for the beak and E57/E35/E33 for the body.
Some things to note: The owl bellies can be flipped upright. Notice that two of the owls have the same eyes. One of them has eyes that open down, one of them has eyes that open up. Did you also notice that there are two different beaks here? I also wanted to point out that there is a circle that you can use to add the wink or the dot for the eye. Oh the expressions you can achieve!!! I also made sure to show you a few more bellies.

If you want a good look at how to "create" an owl please refer to my first post here or Pine's awesome tutorial.

Then I cut out some mini rectangles (not quite squares) and applied some number thickers. I also added a velvet flower in the center of the clock too.

Here is the final product. I made sure the owls were doing something interesting ALL day long *wink* The kids love how they are peaking.

Here is a close up!

I love how the bellies have possibilities for co-ordinating with other sets for great backgrounds or related images (I remember your clever co-ordinating with Butterfly Kisses in a previous set!!). From just the bellies shown so far, I see great possibilities with several Papertrey sets! This kind of creative, lateral thinking just makes me want to stand up and applaud!

This is just adorable and so useful!! I hate to admit this, but I was staring at the yellow (before) clock trying to figure out what the heck you were talking about calling it an owl clock. I clearly could not find the owls! Some days are just harder for some of us than others! After I looked further down the post, imagine, I found the owl clock!
