Mailbox Greetings (2)

You'll be delighted to know that I received my set today. Don't you love the post??!!! They did come through after all. Albeit late!

Today I plan to share some vision with you. The potential in this stamp set is endless, with interchangeable bases you can have a card for all seasons. I was happy to see that some of you guessed the bases. You can choose grass or flowers for summer, leaves for autumn, snow for winter and a puddle or flowers for spring. In addition to that, you will find sentiments for each of those seasons: Happy Summer, Gifts of Spring, Happy Autumn, Warm Winter Wishes. You'll also find some love sentiments, a greeting for Easter and a greeting for Christmas. I cannot wait for you to see the remaining sentiments and stamps come release day!!!

Throughout today's tutorial I am going to show you various ways to maximize the potential for this stamp set using some of the other PTI stamps you may already own. Are you ready????

Christmas is such a special time in our family. I enjoy sending out cards to family and friends and I knew Mailbox Greetings would be IDEAL for our seasonal cards this year.

Step 1
To start, I stamped the mailbox images and the snow using Noir Black Palette Ink.

When I designed the snow I wanted a way to make it easy to line up with the mailboxes. I circled the key "line up" areas for your convenience.

SIDE NOTE!
While I am on the topic of the "snow" I also wanted to show you the puddle since it is created using the same stamp. All you need to do to create a puddle is invert the stamp (rotate the image 180 degrees until it is upside down)
Here you can see I masked the mailbox posts using post it notes and then stamped the "puddle".

This is what the finished puddle would look like...

Step 2
Okay...now back to the card. Next I coloured the image using my Copics again (don't worry if you don't like colouring I'll show you an alternative tomorrow).

and then stamped the snowflakes and the "Holiday Cheer from miles away" sentiment. This one is my ABSOLUTE fav sentiment...I just HAD to include "miles"

Step 3
Once I finished my stamping and colouring I decided to add some "bling" to my card using glitter and my quickie glue pen. I love how quickly I can add glitter using this pen...one touch and there is glue...it's that simple. You'll likely notice that I have two layers of snow. I stamped and cut out an extra snow so I could add dimension to my card.

Step 4
Next I sewed my image to a layer of Aqua Mist. The sewing machine and I had a battle today. I am just going to smile and nod and say that it was supposed to look that way *lol*
After the sewing I punched a hole through the layers and fed the ribbon through...

and tied a pretty bow on the front side.

Step 5
Finally, I added my 5x5 sewed image to a 5.25x5.25 piece of patterned paper which I adhered to my 5.5x5.5 piece of kraft cardstock. I also added the year to personalize the card using the numbers from Wedding Day.

While I am on the topic of add ons...Mailbox Greetings coordinates with the cute images from the Believe set released last fall (see images below)

Here is the final card

Personalize the inside of the card using a strip of your patterned paper and a family photo (I used a photo of my son from 6 years ago...that was his first Christmas) I also included a family write up.

Supplies

paper: Stampers Select White Cardstock by PTI, Aqua Mist by PTI, Kraft from SU!
patterned paper: Ginger Blossoms by SU!
stamps: Mailbox Greetings (Urban Design) by PTI, "2008" from Wedding Day (Urban Design) by PTI
accessories: Ribbon by May Arts

tools:
Sewing Machine, Copic Markers: R27, E27, B00, E43, Y28, Fiskars Hole Punch

Check back for another sneak peak tomorrow!!!! And the announcement of the winner of Mailbox Greetings.

Alli - what a beautiful card. I am so glad you got your set finally! I am in love with this set, and that greeting, I've got to have that as my family all lives in Ireland while I am in the US so 'Holiday cheer from miles away' is just perfect :o)

How smart are you? I love the little indentations for the mailboxes in the snow stamp and to just flip it over for a puddle is a great idea too! Love the fonts you use and can't wait to see the rest of the sentiments.

Ok, I just had to say that the whole snow thing flipped to a puddle is just genius. You are so clever! Your sets are always just fabulous.
