Birthday Fishes...

I have had the idea of making a submersible card for a while (ok so it's not really submersible but you get it right?). The fish from Pond Life were my inspiration and those brads were the icing on the cake. In fact, I will send a shout out to Gina K because she recently featured them on her blog and I completely forgot I had them in my stash. Speaking of Gina...this sewed card is the direct result of her. Thanks for my Janome Gina, I love it!!!

I began my design by sewing my card and base. Then I stamped the background with the polka dot basics. I placed the overlay (clear sheet) and punched holes using the word window and stamped birthday fishes.

As you can see from this photo, I stamped the fish, used the 1 1/4 inch punch a circle around them, used the 1/2 circle punch to punch a circle in the berry sorbet paper (note: punch the smaller circle from your paper BEFORE you punch the larger one. It gives you more play in choosing the right window). I adhered the fish to the back of the peak-a-boo windows and pierced them before mounting them with a dimensional to a circle measuring 1 3/8. As a final touch I added the screw brads to not only hold the clear sheet in place but also to give the card a finished look.

I so want to use this color combo now! Your card is absolutely darling with all the fishies in their little portholes. So sorry you've got that icky sounding illness. Hope you're finally getting better.
