Garden of Life (3)

Creating projects for the countdown is so exciting. I begin preparing for the countdown a few weeks before by drawing sketches and brainstorming around the materials that I have in my personal supplies. I also consider who might be visiting my blog and always make sure I provide something for everyone.

Today's project is a simple one--2 step stamping. I believe this was the first technique that I learned when I started stamping in 2004--of course at that time I had no idea that I would be stamping with my own 2 step stamps just 4 years down the road!!!

Step 1:
Using an 8.5x11 sheet of paper I stamped my flower in white pigment ink over the entire surface of the paper.

Step 2:
Next, match up and stamp the lined image using the hybrid ink.

Hint: I like to have two blocks during this process, one with my solid image, one with my lined image. I line up both images at the same time and place them closer to the top so that I KNOW that the images are in the exact same place. It is easy to lose your "bearing" when you stamp with detailed stamps so this is a trick I use so that I know that I am stamping the right way up.

Step 3:
Next you need to download your own copy of this purse template HERE. Click on Card Template. Once you have the template printed, place it over your 8.5x11 sheet and cut the lines as indicated on the sheet. I taped my sheet at the top so that it didn't move around while I was cutting.

Step 4:
Now that my cardstock has been cut according to the template, I score the lines. Once you have scored the lines, fold them.

Step 5:

Punch a hole in the centre of the flap using the fiskars "brad" punch (1/16th inch)

Place a decorative brad through the hole

Place a velcro tab over top of the stems of the brad (it's a good way to hide the stems) I usually attach the other velcro tab to this one and press firmly as the two pieces of cardstock meet. This ensures that you have the exact placement for both tabs to meet up.

Punch holes on both sides of the purse using the fiskars "eyelet" punch (1/8th inch)

Place a piece of ribbon approx 7 inches through the holes and tie a knot. I cut the ends (to make them less visible) after I tied the knots.

Step 6:
***If you use this to hold your newly created ring, place a paper strip in the centre of the purse, place the ring on the strip and secure with glue dots.

As a final touch I added some extra ribbon to my finished purse.

I also created some cards with my paper scraps (I followed the same procedure listed in step 1 and 2).

Here is my final trio! I created two cards to give you some variety.

Supplies

paper: Stampers Select White Cardstock by PTI, Berry Sorbet by PTI, Aqua Mist by PTI, Spring Moss by PTI
ink:
Berry Sorbet by PTI, Aqua Mist by PTI, Spring Moss by PTI, Whisper White by SU!

tools: 1 /8 punch by Fiskars .
1 /16 punch by Fiskars, corner rounder by EK Success, scor-pal

*You will also need velcro tabs.

If you could make one of the cards above, what one would you CASE?

...only 2 days left...be sure you tune in again tomorrow!

I Love it That is so Fantastic.. Now I need to make some rings, some purses and some cards. I LOVE the card with the flower in the center because you have larger peices of cardstock showing off more of the hreat details of your stamp!! Thanks for another great stamp set and all the wonderful projects!! I hope you are designing many more sets :)

I would definitely case "all things grow with love" mostly because I like how the cardstock is layered.

I would also have to say the "All Thing Grow With Love" ... I love the layered look, and the colors are fabulous together ... can't wait to see more

Ok, I will just have to be honest with you and tell you that I will be casing ALL 3 cards!!!! I would never be able to choose which I like the best. What a designer you are (and I didn't know you hadn't been stamping for your entire life). Great work Alli.

Sometimes going back to our "roots" where it all started is just what we all need!

I would definately case the 2nd card with the flower although all of them are super!

These cards are great! I like them both, but the first one really struck me as I looked at it. It is very clean, simple, and unique and I REALLY like it.

Super cute! Love the purse idea! I really love the "All things grow with love" card. I love how you used different sizes of paper to create it. Super cute - definitely will have to case it!

Thanks for sharing!

I love the "all things grow with love. So simple but so chic with the different color and size scraps.

So clever! I so enjoy the first card (with the overlapping cardstock). Nice work!

Alli,
Your patterened paper is soooo pretty. I have never been one to try to make my own patterns, but you make it look so easy. 2 step stamping was the first technique I learned too, but it still remains my favorite. Keep up the good work! Thanks,
Becky

Oh my goodness Alli! What a fabulous set you have created! I think I'd CASE your All Things Grow With Love card. I don't make white cards often and it would challenge me to show more white. I also like that your colour pops off the card!

Nicole said...

Just lovely!
I love the colors and how the cards and purse coordinate! :D

I'm loving this stamp set - can't wait until we can see it in its entirety. I love how you thought of a perfect way to showcase your polyshrink ring.

I would pick the card with the three larger strips as my favorite. I love the tiny bit of white peaking through each section.

Love all your projects! These are all really really pretty and I love the unique purse!

wow what a beautiful trio! If I were to case only one of the cards it would be "all things grow ..." but really they are both fabulous. Thanks for always inspiring.

Carol (HB) said...

The purse is such an adorable *gift box*! Both cards are so eye catching, but I really love the crisp, simple - but with such POP "all things grow" card.

I prefer the happy birthday card with the flower--but I really love both cards because I like how they showcase "patterned" paper that you made by stamping. And the purse would be a super cute way to give a giftcard also! And I am thrilled to see this stamp set has two-step stamps in it--I LOVE that!

Cassie said...

Very cool project! I want to say that I would CASE the first one first, but the girly-girl in me knows that I'd CASE the second one first. I say first, b/c I would CASE both of them!

I love the purse and the cute polyshrink rings. I will definitely be casing this for my young nieces. Both cards are fabulous, but my favorite is the one on the left.
