Another sneak peak...Day 3

We just drove 4 hours in a snow storm (it should have taken 2 hours) so you can imagine how delighted I am to be sitting here posting something. At times I didn't know if we were going to have to turn around and go back home...but I am CHA bound! I will be sharing updates from CHA including more sneak peaks of Shapes by Design.

So what do you think about Nichole's announcement: ink, paper, ribbon? I am SOOO excited about her new products. I LOVE coordinating things. If you have never tried the stamper's select cardstock it is by far one of the best cardstocks I have ever used (THANK YOU NICHOLE!). It excites me to no end that now I will have MORE of that terrific paper in different shades.

Today's card is a quick card. I wanted to show you this card after showing you yesterday's card. I really value quick cards because it's nice to be able to mass produce 20+ cards in an hour and let me tell you with this design you can. This is especially good for those of you who create cards to sell. Although I personally like lots of added details on my cards, I recognize that some of you like cards that are less complex. And sometimes, less is better!

One of the BEST features about this design is that you can choose the colour combination!!! Yes, there is a stamp that I used to colour the inside of the circle. I decided to stamp my circles blue (one of my favourite colours). In addition, you can stamp whatever pattern you want within the design. There are many different options too. I decided to leave the centre free of colour.

supplies
paper: Stampers Select White by Papertrey Ink
ink: Bashful Blue by SU!, Basic Black by SU!
stamps: Shapes by Design (Urban Design by Alli Miles) Papertrey Ink

I am off again early this morning (this time by air). I will have an opportunity to stamp again with my friend Sherrie Siemens and hope to have something to post by noon (my time) so please check back for a new shape sneak peak*wink*.

Before you leave, I'd love to know: Do you prefer quick cards or detailed cards?

I haven't forgotten about my surprise...I am reading your comments and I will update you very soon.

Alli

what a fun little {and quick} card. It's beautiful...like something that you would pay a fortune for in an upscale stationery store. smiles...

I seem to be drawn to the more detailed cards. But saying that... this card design is so elegant. You always come up with the best ideas. Enjoy your time at CHA and let us know what all you see. Thanks for the sneak peek. I can hardly wait to get my hands on that new cardstock.

quick cards can be fun at times...

I tend to like making more detailed cards, however you certainly make simple and quick quite beautiful!!! I might have to consider trying a single layer card and see how I feel!

Hi Alli. I like a combination of quick and detailed cards...it's great to have options. I'm so excited for you. It must be wonderful promoting a product that you designed. Have great fun at CHA and look forward to more "surprises"! Karen Rose B

I am more drawn to detailed cards, and that is what I normally produce. At Christmas though I was making some very nice simple and quick cards because I had so many to make.

That would depend on what kind of card I'm making and for whom I am making it for. My overall preference is for quick and easy cards, but I love to watercolor and play with Primas, ribbons, brads, etc.

This is so elegant! I love it! Usually, I prefer more detailed cards but there is something very satisfying when you make a really good quick card!

I just love this card. I seem to lean towards quick and clean. I have precious little time stamping, so I like quick.

Love the card, Alli. I seem to make more detailed cards rather than clean, simple cards. Maybe it's because I need to cover my mistakes with layers, sponging and distressing. LOL

I must have this set... it is so modern! LOVE! The coordination with the smaller circle punches is brilliant! Dee

Hi Alli - cute card! I like both simple and detailed. I love being able to mass produce a bunch of cards at one time but also like to challenge myself from time to time with something more complicated and detailed. I'll check back later to see what else you've come up with :o) TFS

I like both quick and detailed cards. I guess I tend to make detailed cards more often because that SEEMS to be what people prefer to see. Personally, I most enjoy a well done, simple, graphic card like this. They're modern and chic.

And YES, I heard about PTI's paper, ink, and ribbon. OH...MY...WORD. Did you see that ribbon!?!

I like simple cards the best which in turn usually is a quick card. Love the shapes. Have endless possibilities for the men cards that are so hard to create.

I love detail to my cards, not to busy , but detailed. But lately I have been making quick and easy because tht is what time has allowed for me. Thank you for all you insipration. This set so far seem to prove we will have miltiple options for quick anf easy but also when time allows a very detailed card. Thank you ... I can't wait for this set to be released.

I really enjoy making both..when you know you have to make quite a few I love the quick, simple and elegant cards. However, there is nothing better than sitting down, getting my slippers on, kids in bed, my bag of chocolates and really concentrating on a detailed card...love it..

I like to make both types of cards....
Congratulations on your new venture with Papertrey....I'm very, very happy for you!

I prefer moderate cards, not too involved by not too simple...does that make sense?

Leah said...

I like both, but tend to make a bit more involved cards. I like cards that are full of fun techniques but not overdone.

If I had to choose, I'd pick quick cards--although every once in a while I really like to do something detailed....that makes me concentrate.

I love both types! Quick and easy for bulk and detailed for that special occasion!

Loving this set!

Both!! You just gotta have ways to make quick, simple cards but at times its fun to go all out with fancy, special ones. Thanks for sharing!

I really like quick and clean cards. Your designs speak of great masculine cards to me. I NEED masculine..so this fits the bill nicely. Great job.

I love making detailed cards. As far as receiving cards in the mail, I love both simple and detailed. Can't wait until the 15th for your new set to be available. Congrats on teaming up with Nicole. Much success!!

Hi Alli and thanks again for sharing your creativity with all of us! I usually make more detailed cards, but I love the option of quick cards when you need to make a last minute card. Wonderful cards!

This is another fantastic card. I don't think I really have a preference of one type of card over the other. I like creating some of the more complex to some of the more simple. It just depends on my mood.

Have a great day!

oh, love the no-layer card! beautiful, elegant, and so well done! I MUST HAVE THIS SET!! :o)

I'd have to say I like both...Depends on my mood...

It doesn't necessarily have to be quick as long as the design is simple. I LOVE to look at elaborate cards with lots of layers, embellies, distressing, etc. But when I create, I seem drawn to simple.

Anonymous said...

love both types but I tend to do better with quick cards. I love the shapes stamps so far - you did an awesome job!!

Anonymous said...

I like both kinds but have more success with quick ones. I think it is the INSTANT gratification!

I loved quick cards........ easily reproduced. But now that I am stamping to stamp, I like the more detailed ones. However, my newest rave, the one layer card.
This stamp set is perfect for that!
I cannot wait to get my hands on this set.

I prefer to make quick cards, but I prefer to look at detailed cards... so, I try to do a little of both. I notice that I'll get in the mood for quick cards after I've done a few detailed cards. Actually today I am working on getting a bunch of quick cards done, just so my personal stash is up to date for all the birthdays and such coming up.

Anonymous said...

I like simple cards but I'm never satisfied my simple cards look 'done' so I always end up with something detailed!! your set looks like it could lend itself to making simple but elegant cards!
