VT Challenge and some words...

A few days ago the CC111 (Colour Challenge) on SCS was announced. The twist was we were encouraged to send the cards we made to several families (refer to link above). I encourage you to also make and send a card to these families too! Your support WILL make a difference.
When this tragedy unfolded I was speechless. Understanding something so tragic kept me wondering "Why?'. But isn't that what we always ask when something goes terribly wrong. 2007 has brought forth that question on numerous occasions for both my family and I. It has truly made me sit back and think about life's journey.
If you haven't guessed it already, I am not only a creature of habit (that can be tough at the best of times) I am also a person who thinks about and pays attention to detail. One thing I do know is that it is the small details that often make all the difference. You know what I mean, the thoughtful little gestures, the kind words, the e-mail/phone call when you least expect.
When I created this card, which took some thought, I tried to envision the big picture. The needless deaths in Virginia, the suffering and pain, they will go on for many years. And even though I am a country away, I am affected!
This card is symbolic. The dandelions have been detailed with flock...to show their weakness in "the wind". The grass is green for greener days to come. The whisper white cardstock has been distressed...it is wearing even for the dandelions. The ribbons symbolize hope. It seems more and more these days we wear ribbons to show we care, to show we remember, to show we have hope. To all the families, to all the people...I am thinking of you!
