A Giveaway.

I am still under lots of paper and report cards here--does it ever end? I wish I had more time in the day. My last report card took me 8 hours to complete!!! Almost an hour per subject area--remember I work with homeschoolers so I have to sum up all their learning from countless e-mails, phone calls and portfolios. Because each homeschooler follows a different program each student offers a whole new adventure when it comes to a report card--especially if it is new material that I am not familiar with. I have to research it first and follow through the scope and sequence before I can even attempt to grade the material. Don't get me wrong, I love my job :) but report cards are always tedious because I have to mark off specific learning outcomes. This is an example of a learning outcome:
-compare familiar plants according to similarities and differences in appearance and life cycles (Grade 3 Science). See isn't that fun? Grade 3 science has 11 outcomes so imagine how thrilling it is to comment under each of them.

So although I am not posting a card today and because you endured my teacher shop talk, I have a treat in store. Today's giveaway is something for those masculine cards...it's called You're A Classic (check it out!!!) from the Mona Lisa Collection at Cornish Heritage Farms. If you want to see cards using this set be sure to check out the CHF gallery. I just love the set.

All you need to do to enter the giveaway is tell me what you are getting one of the men in your life for the holiday season: your hubby, brother, dad, son, boyfriend, boss etc. If you aren't celebrating the holiday season you can share what you bought him for his birthday.

I will post the winner on Friday so you have two days to write me a post! See you then.

Hugs,

Alli

My son and I had the wonderful opportunity to go up in a helicopter last summer. I found him a remote control helicopter that looks like the one we went up in that will be under the tree for him. Oh how I need masculine stamps:)

I am getting my husband a pair of boots he has been wanting but wouldn't splurge on for himself--I know he'll be surprised!

I haven't got my hubby a Christmas present yet, but for his birthday a few weeks ago I bought him tickets to a velodrome cycling event....which he loved!! (He is soo hard to buy for).

I'd love to win that stamp for his cards...he has a 1956 chevy, so I'd have to buy some chevy stamps too!

I just started homeschooling my daughter (we live in Morocco) so I feel some of your pain! Thankfully she's only in 1st grade material so I can still keep up! LOL!

I bought my husband an ipod. He's going to freak! I can't wait to see his face!

I'm a teacher at a public school, so I know all the work teachers go to. I can relate! I have absolutely NO Christmas shopping done, and was thinking of just telling my husband that I am getting him a baby (our first will be born in March) and that that should be good enough!

I got my hubby 3 comic books he needed for his collection. We're not talking about the ones that cost a $.10...... ;)

I am putting together a golf gift basket for my husband...gift certificates for rounds of golf at different local courses, golf balls, tees, you get the picture.

Since my hubby bought a new tractor this summer, he's getting a few small things...pocketknife, book, etc.

I'm a second grade teacher in a public school and will be getting report cards prepared before the holidays. They've made it a lot easier (computer generated report cards) than it used to be 29 years ago (real cards to fill in by hand) when I started teaching! Hey, if I had been a cardmaker back in the day, I would have embellished those report cards:D LOL!!!

I have no clue what to get hubby. Probably a video game. I never know what to get him.

Thanks for the opportunity!!!

I am giving my 8 yr old son 4 Star Wars themed T-shirts. He loves Star Wars and plays it all the time with his friends so I thought he would love them. Now, if I can just find something equally great for his twin sister all will be good!

Well, aren't you clever - getting shopping ideas from your readers!! No kidding - I'm reading each one for an idea also - my hubby is so hard to buy for - I always cop out and get him a gift certificate to a hobby shop---or how about work socks and underwear-they always need those!!

My husband and I don't exchange gifts. This may sound silly, but my SIL is a HUGE Elvis fan and I was so happy to find an Elvis calendar for him. I really can't wait for him to open it cause I know he will love it. Sometimes the perfect gift is a little one. Thanks for the opportunity to win.

Well this year my brother and nephews were treated to see the Wiggles in concert (my sil and niece too) (The concert was last Sunday and they all had a blast!!)and as a joint present between bro and sil was an ambulance subscription (ambulance cover for a year) nothing overly exciting there but its peace of mind knowing that if its needed they dont have to worry about $$$$.

Merry Christmas to you and your family.

I am getting my dh a guitar and guitar lessons. He loves to sing, and I think this is something he will love to pull out at gatherings with friends.

Karen said...

It's a small gift, but one I am excited about. My ds is always misplacing his car keys and it drives him crazy! (He asked for a key hook for Christmas!) I was out shopping for something totally unrelated and found an electronic key finder. It has an attachment that goes on your key ring and a 'card' type of thing that can be kept in a wallet. And is was on sale 50% off-too cool!

I'm gonna get my hubby a Homedics chair massager for his back. He's been getting occasional back pain lately, and it's worse when he's sick. Hopefully this will help out a little!

I'm getting my husband a new winter coat, and a "pay-as-you-go" phone with plenty of minutes to start him off. He never kept his cell phone on him or even charged when he had one, so I cancelled the service years ago. Now he's ready to 'try' again. He doesn't like to be tied down to a phone!

I will be getting my husband a new leather jacket. He just recently gotten a Harley so of course this jacket has to go along with it.

For Christmas this year I have bought my hubby cologne, mmmm I love it when he smells yummy, and I bought him a game, ticket to ride. We play a lot of games at our house, and we're always looking for something new and fun to play, and the standard sock and undies and shaving cream for his stocking.

Hubby and I don't buy each other gifts--our son is getting an Axe gift set (he hinted he wanted it) along with cash--he's a teenager, so it's hard to find something he wants, so cash is always a good answer.

This year I'm getting my husband an RC Car Action magazine subscription...boring for me- but I'm glad he has a hobby he loves as much as I love mine! And for my son, who is 2, we are getting a Hot Wheels racetrack!!

Well my husband told me he needs a new wallet, but that's pretty boring. Oh, I'll get it for him but I also ordered him an Alton Brown book off of Amazon because he loves watching him. Plus there will be a few other little surprises. No big stuff this year because we're strapped.

I am getting a small inheritance, so after my tithe, my husband is getting a new ATV. He uses is old beat us and barely running ATV that he bought used years ago all over the ranch. It has saved him so many miles on his pickup and even more miles that he might of had to walk. He works so hard and deserves something new and shiny and just exactly what he wants, not what we can afford. (for once)

I am surprising my DH with a fishing trip with our three grown sons the day after Christmas. Even though the fish probably won't be biting much(they'll be full from Christmas dinner), it is all about the father/sons time! Thanks for asking(and luckily, he won't read this to spoil the surprise) TinaH

"You're a Classic" I love that sentiment for a card (LOL!). Well, we had a flood on the bottom floor and we are still recovering. So hubby said no presents for him. I did though buy him a shirt (shhhhh!) and I fixed his watch and wrapped it up :). Some years are like this, ya know?

My brother always loved this picture of my grandparents which was taken before they were married. My Grandpa is in his baseball uniform and he and my Grandma are sitting on the front of an old car (late 1930's). I found the original negative and had a copy of the photo made and framed for him.

My husband and I are doing something different this year. Instead of exchanging individual gifts, we decided to give ourselves a trip to Colonial Williamsburg to experience the wonderful Christmas atmosphere there, see all the beautiful handmade decorations, and share some time just for ourselves. We leave the weekend before Christmas and return just before Christmas Eve to share the holidays with family and friends.

This is gonna sound corny, but my DH and I have been married 35 years now and we feel that our daily exchange of love and respect for each other are our Christmas gifts to each other. It's so nice to experience Christmas every day!!
Thank you, Ali, for the chance to win this great set... I'm already designing a card in my head for DH.. he is definitely a classic!

I really enjoyed reading about the homeschool report cards. We are planning to homeschool my granddaughter. My dh and I are not buying gifts this year for one another. We have an opportunity to sponsor a woman from the Sudan to be taken to Uganda and taught how to sew, given a sewing machine and then returned back to Sudan to use her new skills to help her family and earn a living. Thank you for the opportunity to win such a great stamp!

Wow - that is a lot to do to report cards. I love the sentiments from the You're a Classic stamp set - they are extremely masculine. I always have a hard time figuring out what to get my husband for Christmas, but I think this year, I'm going to get him a new trumpet. He was in the band when he was growing up and now that our youngest son is showing some interest in it like our oldest did, he is getting that fever again. It will really be something different.

Thanks for the opportunity to win.

Have a great evening.

Ooooh good question. For me, the adult men in my life are hardest to shop for. My dad and I have not connected well over the past few years (a story for another time) but I have great memories of watching Little House on hte Prarie with him as a little girl ... so this year I am looking forward to giving him an entire season of Little House on DVD. i just know he's going to love it and who knows maybe we can watch some of it together!

Good luck with all those papers.

I am giving my son a weekend Christmas Christian camp with his best friend. They leave on Friday the 19th for two nights and three days of camp. We live in Texas so it is not as cold as it is up north. They will be riding horses, skeet shooting and learning about Jesus and what Christmas is all about. He thinks it is from Santa. He just recieved a gift under the Christmas tree that was a snow globe with baby Jesus in Marys arms. There was a letter in there explaining to him what Santa is giving him. HE WAS SO EXCITED!!! It is the perfect gift. Santa had to give it to him early because the camp is before Christmas. It turned out perfect.

Well, my husband has a habit of seeing something and buying it for himself. But, this year I have managed to get a bunch of his favorite things. There is an Iowa Hawkeye book that he has not seen and I splurged and bought it! It is a limited edition and he will spend many hours drooling over it. He needed new jammies and I found some Green Bay Packers ones which I think he will laugh at but I bet I see him wear them! The shirt for sure since it looks like a T-shirt. He loves socks, esp. argyle so each year I buy him at least one pair. This year I found a three different colors on sale. He has had a tough year with his job and I decided this holiday he deserves a bit of fun so I think some of these presents will help his mood. Plus, my mom used to make him his favorite cookies and I am going to surprise him and make them an wrap them up so he won't know I made them. Maybe I can throw in another little fun thing too that is not expected. I decided he needs something different and fun for sure. Maybe if I made a project with the stamp you offering - that would be fun too. He loves to imitate Elvis and I bought a couple of Elvis stamps so maybe I can make something fun with them too. I just want him to know I really appreciated all he did for my parents and myself when they were very sick and died. He really went way and beyond belief!

Thanks for sharing all your great stuff.
