Wow I can hardly believe it. After 3 years of being a SCS member this is my very first splitcoast challenge (CC103). To tell you the truth, I was drawn to this challenge because of the BEAUTIFUL colours. I just love them and true to her word, they are as Em says "S-P-R-I-N-G-Y". Dare I say it with all the snow we have had in the past two weeks? I know the sun is out there...it shone though my window the other day.
Along with this great spring colour combo (cool carribean, certainly celery, elegant eggplant) I had to use my newest Bella . I coloured flowahbella with watercolour pencil crayons and an aquapainter. I usually like to trace around the edges of the image outline with the pencil crayon and then draw the colour towards the centre of the image using the aquapainter. I also add colour "punch" to the image by applying the tip of the aquapainter to the crayon tip, then brushing across to gather more colour and finally applying it to my stamped image. If you want a more washed out image then skip the last step.
You'll note I created my designer background again using the linen stamp and the paisley image from the new Polka and Paisley stamp set featured in the new SU! Spring Mini. So simple and so effective. To create this effect, ink background stamp in the same ink colour as your cardstock. Then apply your secondary stamp in whisper white craft ink.
I created flowahbella's cool carribean background using the marvy giga scalloped square punch (insert *big* *grin*). I punched the square twice and glue them together to make the background longer.
My final touches included the sheer polka dot ribbon and the thank you embossed paper strip using the cuttlebug.
