CHF Challenge--Brayer

So this week's challenge was using the brayer. I haven't used my brayer in a while and decided to create a ghosting look using versamark and ink (ink stamp in versamark then stamp glossy--brayer over using coloured ink). I also really like non-traditional colours for Christmas and so I chose PINK as my focal colour with cranberry and kraft as accents.

The trees were stamped on white paper and the poinsettia was stamped over top using cranberry and current.

Recipe

Stamps:
-Christmas Expressions (Mona Lisa Collection) by CHF
-Poinsettia (Aimee Nugent) by CHF
-Modern Star (Aimee Nugent) by CHF
-Heart Warmers (Kim Hughes Collection) by CHF

All Boy

Good morning! Hope you are well rested and ready to tackle another day. We have a fun little trip in store and I am looking forward to a night away with the kiddos and my DH! I love summer.

So yesterday I mentioned that my children are 14 months apart and that in the early days I didn't get much scrapbooking done. Well this is one of those early pics that has been awaiting some love!

You can see that I stamped the circle ring with Baby Boy from the Classi

Unique Beauty

Since I started scrapbooking/stampbooking for some of my CHF assignments I can honestly say I cannot get enough of it. I started scrapbooking shortly after the birth of my son in 2002. I tell you though, I would dream up pages, collect the stuff and never do it. I think I only managed to get through 6 layouts done before I stopped. The main reason was that my kids were born 14 months apart so having two babies--almost like have twins, was enough work for me that I could never get a layout completed. That's why I started card making in 2003--quick and easy and finished in an hour. One of my best friends owned a scrapbooking store so I managed to go to a few crops and retreats to get some layouts done but wouldn't you know it...life was still just as busy. Hardly any scrapbook pages done. Flash forward to this year. My goal is now a minimum of 3 layouts a month. It's doable. It's not overwhelming and I am LOVING IT!

Today's layout was one I just sat and created--no sketch...just time on my hands. I was SO inspired to pull out my butterfly stuff after seeing all the sneak peaks on blog and company websites sharing CHA highlights.

I used a rub-on on the butterfly mirror.

I stamped the edges of my page with the flourish from the Beautiful Set (Rummage Bin collection) by CHF. Also note that I used rub-ons on the photo as well as the glitter die-cut.

LOVE that beauty rub-on as well as that funky ribbon trim!

Hope you are having a terrific Saturday. We get to celebrate the town festival today. They always begin with a megaphone annoucement for the pancake breakfast (that annnoucement is at 7AM and is made by a man who drives up and down all the roads in town) and then we have a parade followed by crafts, games, pie contests, pet contests and booths etc. It should be a lot of fun.

I'll have another scrapbook page for you tomorrow so stay tuned.

{note}worthy sketch.

Our So Sketchy group assignment was perfect! Although I have to admit I had to go looking for my creative memories cutters from way back when to find the right size oval--I forgot I even had those!

So I must tell you I am IN LOVE with all the Making Memories lines these days. Their patterned paper is delicious! How could you not love {note}worthy or passport?...or what about their brand new lines Fa La La and Paperie??? (Making Memories blog)

After Ally assigned us our card sketch I knew instantly that I would use some of my {note}worthy goodies. And since I am a fan of clear stuff I knew I needed to add a clear panel and stamp the flourish from Beautiful (Rummage Bin Collection) by Cornish Heritage Farms.

Christmas in July?

At CHF we like to do things in advance. The brillant mastermind Lisa Strahl (art director) made sure that you all have at least 5 months of prep time for your holiday cards. Even better, the CHF girls have been enlisted to help you too. CHF is offering FREE online classes (holiday themed) starting with the Sandra Kuck images. Make sure you check back regularly to see what other fab classes are being offered too.

In the spirit of preparing for the holidays as well as Kim Hughes most recent release Heart Warmers , not to mention getting a head start on my own cards...

Can You Colour?

Now’s your chance! Cornish Heritage Farms is once again opening up a position on their highly successful Design Team to someone new. Unlike our ‘Fresh Face’ call last year that was restricted to designers that had not served on another design team, this call is open to everyone!

Cornish Heritage Farms is looking for a new Design Team Member to work specifically with our more detailed art lines - Thomas Kinkade, Sandra Kuck, etc. The emphasis for this position is on coloring, but overall appeal of the project is still important. The successful applicant will become part of a great team that is constantly being challenged and improving their artistic talent.

To apply please send a project sample that you have colored using either a Thomas Kinkade or a Sandra Kuck rubber stamp. Any choice of medium is fine (Copics, watercolors, chalks, colored pencils, etc). A photo or scan of the project needs to be sent to designer@cornishheritagefarms.com. The Image should be 72 DPI and at least 750 pixels wide in JPG format. Along with the card please also include your full name, address, phone number. email, blog, online gallery and publication resume, if applicable. All information will be kept confidential and destroyed once our search is over. We reserve the right to request the actual project if we are interested in pursuing your application further.

This Design Team call is open to all designers, but the following rules apply:

  • The successful applicant must be willing to start immediately once chosen and contractual issues have been finalized.
  • The designer will be required to be an exclusive Design Team member of Cornish Heritage Farms. This means that while under contract with us, you will not work on/for any other design team/rubber stamp/scrapbook company. Aw shucks, you say, that’s kinda unfair. We don’t believe this to be the case, as it allows you to focus on the several CHF stamp lines you will be working with, rather than be pulled in different directions. We also make sure that you are well taken care of. :)
  • The designer must be willing to use products that can be found in retail stores. In other words, products that are available for retailers to purchase wholesale.
  • The deadline for this call is 12:00am Mountain Standard Time, August 1st, 2008

This is not a competition; instead it is simply a great way for us to find fantastic talent that we may not normally see.

Please note that although we cannot personally reply to every application, you will receive an automatic reply from us which will let you know that we have received your application. Also note that we will be calling finalists to talk with you further before making our final decision.

We wish you all the best & look forward to hearing from you soon. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Julia, our Design Team Coordinator, at julia@cornishheritagefarms.com.

Thanks so much,

Richard & Liz

The different faces of owls...

I have to start today's post with a gushing THANK YOU! I am thrilled many of you like Wise Owl. Being in the forums last night was amazing--your kind words and excitment left me speechless. I can hardly wait to see what you create with Wise Owl.
One thing that really stood out was one of the forum posters said "You could turn the owl body upside down and make a ghost". That is BRILLANT! You totally know I am going to try that out.

Yesterday I posted THIS photo.

Along with the many combinations of faces, bellies, beaks, feet and wings you also have the task of deciding how you are going to dress up your owls.

Technique: Gamsol and Koh-i-noor Woodless Colour Pencils (Gina K sells these AWESOME pencils)

Technique: Paper Piecing the belly, using glossy accents by Ranger on the eyes.

Technique: Liquid Pearls

Product: brads used as sunglasses,

Technique: 2 step stamping (solid over patterned stamp)
Product: pearls for the eyes

Product: beads

Product: Glossy Accents (by Ranger) over the belly

Technique: Copic Colouring, stickles used as "eyeshadow"
Product: Flower centers (by Prima)

Product: Flock (Camel Flocking by Cornish Heritage Farms)
**You can add a lot more. I just added enough to cover the white. Typically I would add more than this.

Thanks again for your wonderful comments and support.
