Musical Christmas

Hello! Who else is with me on the report card bandwagon?  It will be rewarding when I am signing off on the last one but that may be into early July for me (the perks (or maybe not) of working with homeschool families) .

Well I am sure you are almost tired of Christmas cards from me but I do have a few in my stash.  I have some newer cards to show including some using my Take Three: Summer set which I promised and some cards using some oldie but goodie stamps from the Urban Design collection and I will be showcasing them very soon.

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Create card base and use impression plate to create texture
2. Use die to create frame. Stamp frame image.  Stamp sentiment.
3. Line the inside of the card with patterned paper.  Cut a strip of patterned paper for the lower part of the card.  Adhere to card.
4. Use ribbon as an accent and place trinket pins through ribbon.

More Christmas.

It's been another busy week.  I am always surprised what teachers and schools can cram into the end of the school year.  We have been on lots of field trips and have lots of end of the year events going on.  Of course I wouldn't change it for the world but it doesn't leave much time for the end of the day. Today's card follows on the Christmas theme...

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Create card base.  Apply emboss folder.
2. Punch patterned paper squares.
3. Stamp image and punch using die cut. Stamp sentiment.
4. Adhere layers, felt and ribbon.

Spring a la Christmas!

  It's been a while since I posted  a new card so I thought what better way than to start the week off with a new card.  As you know I have been working on Christmas cards for the year.  By completing a few every month I am ahead of the game by Christmas time.  It's hard to get in the mood for Christmas when you are surrounded by bright colours and pastels but to tell you the truth it's also part of the challenge.

INSTRUCTIONS 

1. Create card base.  Create edge around card using scor-pal.
2. Create layers and snowflake die cut .
3. Punch border. Stamp sentiment.
4. Adhere layers, button and ribbon.

Blog Candy

Lots of Ballet

Hello again! Just quickly, I wanted to let you know that I did end up seeing the optometrist and then my doctor, had some blood taken and now awaiting a call from an eye specialist.  They aren't sure what is happening to my eye(s) but have a few things they want to look at including the possibility of temporal arthritis (which is not common for people my age).  Anyhow, I am still keeping my computer time short and sweet as not to irritate my eyes. 

On another note, for any of you with dancers in the family you will appreciate it when I say you are AMAZING people.  Last week was the lead up to my daughter's final ballet performance and between-it was a week long event in addition to the year of dancing.  Although truth be told she did an amazing job and the entire performance was spectacular!  I've included some photos to share...

 
The last photo is priceless and such an prime example of my daughter.  Love her to bits attitude and all.  She truly is a princess.

I've got a secret to share...

and it has been VERY hard to keep it quiet...but today is the day I can tell you.  You see a while back I  decided to take the plunge and send some cards in to THIS contest.  Every year I have watched some amazing and talented people win the contest and I have always admired their effort because their cards were amazing not to mention inspirational.  Knowing how many thousands of cards are entered into this contest I figured it was a long shot but knew it was better to give it a chance rather than let this great opportunity pass by for another year.

So you can imagine I was absolutely thrilled when I received an e-mail congratulating me and naming me 2010 Stamping Royalty through Paper Crafts Magazine!!!

I mean really?  That is just about the greatest honour EVER!  I am still in disbelief but am so proud to be named among some fabulous stampers!!!

It's hard to believe that I started this journey feeling like I did not have a creative bone in my body in 2004 to being named Stamping Royalty in 2010.  If you have just started this amazing craft, I encourage you to challenge yourself.  Try a new technique, a new challenge, a new layout...submit some cards for publication, enter some contests...you just never know what is in your future.  Afraid?  There is nothing worse than missing an opportunity by not trying.  Break out of your comfort zone or your paper crafting shell and be inspired by all that YOU do.  I know you can do it.  After all, if I can do it so can you.

I just want to thank all the people who have inspired me and who have believed in me.  I want to thank you for your support, especially all of you who visit my blog on a regular basis.  Your comments are so encouraging and I can't thank you enough.

So for today {ok and maybe for the rest of the year ;) } I will wear my Stamping Royalty tiara with pride :)
