Asking for your help.

Hello dear friends!! I am still around just going through a busy spell with grandma moving out, yard sale, end of the school year (report cards) and another roller coaster ride for support for my son. I am calling on the experts out there hoping to get some answers today. For those of you who know, my son has had some exceptional challenges over the past few years. I shared long ago what it was like for my son to have Sensory Processing Disorder. I shared that he has had multiple assessments and diagnoses. Our journey is not over yet. About 2+ years ago after a comprehensive assessment we were no further ahead with answers...with the exception of the psychologist's comment that I have a very complex child who would need further assessment between the ages of 8-9. Flash forward to now. My son will be 9 in a few short weeks. We are awaiting the autism referral. The problem is that the previous assessments are very confusing and so his referral is "complex" too. They are not entirely sure what to do (as in do the assessment or not)...One of the key factors in this process is Andrew's previous diagnosis of DCD (developmental coordination disorder). The woman from the referral team I spoke to said that if he has DCD he will not get an autism diagnosis. I seriously do not understand how that can be. Co-morbid conditions exist. If you are a professional in this field or know someone who can share some insight could you please e-mail me or post below. It frustrates me to no end that I have professionals who SEE that my son has Aspergers and yet somehow we are not getting this diagnosis. I am a special education teacher and honestly although I cannot diagnosis him from a medical standpoint he is a child with Aspergers for sure. He is very high functioning and yet has some significant delays, impairments, language issues, narrow interests and non-verbal communication problems (very low social skills) and more. Thank you for reading this, sharing this with others and for your input. I will continue to support my son in whatever ways I can...I am just tired of a system without answers. And for a mum who has been working on this for so long, jumping through the hoops etc it would be nice to know how I can help him next. Interestingly, my journey as a mum with special needs has certainly helped me in my role as a special education teacher. It is always a blessing to be able to work and talk with families and help support them on their journey too.

One year ago ...

On June 10th, 2010 I was reviewing the last few years of my life and wondering how a 34 year old could be feeling so tired and run down. I used the excuse that I was a busy mum, wife, paper crafter and teacher and that since I was in my 30s I was supposed to feel this way. After recovering from the worst season of cold and flu (winter 2009-early 2010)...H1N1, adult croup, 3x strep throat and countless other things I vowed I would never take a day of my health for granted again. What struck me as odd is that I thought I was pretty healthy. I ate good foods, I took some vitamins, I drank water, I exercised a few times a week and all my appointments with the doctor showed that I was a typical 30+ year old. So why was I so tired? Why was my skin looking so blah? Why was I having trouble getting more than 5.5 hours of sleep? Why was my mental clarity so terrible? Why was I gaining more inches when I eating healthy? There were so many "why's" I was beginning to just ignore them hoping they would go away.

For those people who know me well, I have worked hard to keep my weight the same as well as make wise food choices. But of course life gets busy and the words "granola bar" and "coffee" did pop into my life for convenience sake. Add two kids--one special needs, a husband, a job, paper crafting, a dog, a cat, grandma living with us. Then there were a few late nights and early mornings. Did I mention we moved into a house with NO yard...no grass...just a hill and dirt? Life was busy.

So then I hear about this nutrition program and I am a little skeptical about trying something like this...after all, I eat healthy. After 30 days on the program I feel like someone has recharged my body. Did I feel it on day 1? Nope. Day 4? I noticed very little. Day 8? Some weight loss. Day 14? Lots more energy. Day 18? I was sleeping better. Day 30? Down 11lbs and feeling amazing. My skin was radiant and cleared up. I continued on a maintenance program for month 2 and lost an additional 4 lbs and continued to feel even better. By month 3, 4, 5+ my life had completely changed and I could hardly believe that it was possible to feel any better. Not only was I feeling better, my confidence increased, I was working out more regularly and I had more energy for my kids. 12 months have passed and I have been flu and cold free for more than a year and my skin has never looked better. I feel fantastic. I know that I am healthy. I am excited about life and I am more open to taking new opportunities. What I was most excited was the specific measurable comments I received from my doctor regarding BIG improvements to my health.

Over the past year I have coached a number of people who have committed to making a change in their lives. They committed to a full 30 day program and have been open to following up with at least 1-2 maintenance programs created especially for them. They have also been open to my coaching, accepted phone calls and encouragement from me and even participated in my coaching group on Facebook. Has the program been easy? Not always. Has this program worked for everyone? No. But for those who have followed through and committed to what it takes, the program has been very successful. They key is that you have to be in a place in your life where you are willing to work through challenges OR perhaps you have already been challenged and you are looking for a new path. You have to know that you wont give up when things get tough. The end result is very rewarding!

My journey to health has opened my life up to friendship, to energy, to exercise, to commitment, to living the life I have always wanted to live. I am so grateful for what I have learned and experienced over the past year. What I am most amazed by this company are the things to come. They are committed to providing excellence and as such always make sure that all information they share is up to date and well researched. They also make sure their product is top quality and continue to improve it so that we can get the most health benefits from it. What I am loving the most now is that this company is moving towards a greater healthier future for humanity and I am blessed to be a part of that journey already!

Last month MFT released a fabulous set called Just My Type. This is a set with endless possibilities set. I had a lot of fun putting together a shabby chic kind of card. While I like cutesy I also like to work my style a bit and try something that is more out of the box for me. This card is jam packed with punches and dies. I don't think I could ever tire from friendship cards so you can imagine how excited I was to play with this month's Clearly Sentimental About Friendship release this month. I enjoy sending my friends a card from time to time or delivering one in person. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that some of the sentiments actually fit in a previously released die-namics called Framed Greetings. I used the patterned paper as my colour inspiration and was pleased with how this card turned out.

I am thrilled you stopped by today! One of my fav releases this month is Up Up and Away. I am a big fan of hot air balloons. In fact, navigating the sky in one is on my bucket list. There is something dreamy about floating in the sky.

I really wanted to make this card simple and decided to layer the card in white and edge it in blue to represent the clouds and the sky.

I have a quick post tonight before my next teaser. I couldn't help but share this cutie card I made. I absolutely love this PI release from last month. I paired it with a yummy new scallop ribbon die-namic released this month through MFT. I loved this patterned paper because it gave me so many options to paper piece and to contrast varying patterns.

Hey Everyone! Today I have the privileged of showing you a card using Clearly Sentimental About Parenting. It was released in March and I had a chance to make a card using the set. One of the most magnificent experiences in my life is being a mum. The job is ongoing, challenging, rewarding...it makes you smile, it makes you cry...you are a nurse, a doctor, a teacher, an officer of the peace...and yet I wouldn't change a day of the experience. Hello everyone. Happy Good Friday, Happy Earth Day, and Happy Birthday to two of my dear friends Ellen and Tracey!!

There is so much to celebrate today so I figured I would share a celebration card with you for a graduate. A la modes are some of my favourite stamps from My Favorite Things. I think what I love most about this image other than the happy grin is that HUGE diploma all scrolled up. Honestly, when you graduate that paper seems THAT big. Maybe because it's an amazing accomplishment.

Given all that has gone on with our family in the last month, this adorable set called Hold Me Tight could not be more fitting. March release from MFT...

The last few weeks have been a whirlwind. Grandma is back in the hospital and we have been traveling back and forth to see her. She is such a fighter!! She is improving by the day but has had some setbacks that will leave her in the hospital for at least 4-5 more days.

I am delighted to be sharing some new cards with you today. In fact, you will see quite a few over the next few days. I finally had a chance to take photos of my cards and get them uploaded. While I created these cards a while back the travel to and from the hospital (which is 1.5 hours away) has consumed much of my free time. And while I am able to check things out through my iPhone I was not willing to sit and peck an entire post using the phone lol. I definitely would not win any speed text awards and I would have to be SOOOO careful with autotext options because sometimes it picks the worst words!!!

Thank you for your continued patience with my posts. We have some big changes coming up in our household. Grandma will likely move in with my mum in the next few months as she is requiring more around the clock care. And unfortunately I can only provide so much each day with the family, homeschooling and my jobs. It saddens me as we will miss her terribly but we are happy knowing that mum will be able to provide comforting care for grandma in this next leg of her journey.

Today's cards are from MFT March release! First up is One Sweet Chick from the Pure Innocence collection! I absolutely ADORE this set and it is perfect for making your spring cards!! How can you resist that cute chick?

I am such a fan of the Pure Innocence collection through MFT. The images are so sweet and tell such a story. I love the expressions and the sentiments that go with this line too. I was really excited to see the Girl Scout image in this month's release. In Canada, we have scouts that are a combination of boys and/or girls however many girl's join Girl Guides of Canada. I decided to colour this sweet image in the same colours as our Girl Guide uniform in Canada--navy blue and white.

Some BIG news!!

I have been keeping a secret and the news is finally out! I am officially an MFT gal!! Wohoo!! (Did you hear that on the other side of the country?) I am thrilled and excited to be working on the DT. Good day everyone!! I have a few cards to show this week. As you gathered from above things have been busy and I have missed my regular stamping sessions. I am looking forward to going to the Local Scrapbook Store tomorrow to find some new things. I think the last new thing I bought was about 4 or 5 months ago.

I just wanted to thank those that sent me notes regarding the books I posted yesterday :) Particularly about the one I just started reading. It's nice to hear good things! I have purchased books before that are painfully slow or just hard to get through but it sounds like I am in for a good read.

Hello to all my stamping friends!!

I just got back from what will be my annual Special Education and Learning Services retreat through my school. As many of you know I moved from the role of being a school teacher to a special education teacher and as such this was my first retreat. We were very lucky to stay in a place overlooking a lake in the beauty of nature. While I was there for training I also did find time to go jogging and walking so that I could enjoy some one on one time with nature, myself and God. All I can say is it was devine!

I thought I would take the time today to reflect on a few things going on for me and a few shares too. This will not appeal to everyone so if you are looking for a card, stop back tomorrow as I will have a post ready for you with a new card!

I have also been reading a number of books. I never seem to start and finish one before I start another. Each book has a purpose so I like reading different books to keep my interest piqued!

What is on my night stand:

Have a new Kid by Friday by Dr. Kevin Leman
As many parents have found, as soon as one challenge is over another one arrives! Generally things are the same in my household. I like to take more preventative measures and as a result learn things that can prevent the onset of problems. With my son, this is particularly important because he depends so heavily on routine. So introducing something new takes time.

In Search of Eden by Linda Nichols
This is a story of law and grace, of forgiveness and redemption of finding joy and rest in a broken world. I have just stated it but am very impressed so far! If you have a review of this book I'd love to hear it.

The Magic in asking the Right Questions by Bill Mayer
This is a great book about positive affirmations and understanding how to control your thoughts. It is amazing how wonderful your day can be if you start off on the right foot. I am more grateful today and willing to share my gratitude with others. I am not longer fearful. I am open to opportunities!

A new homeschool find for special needs:

We are always on the look out for great special needs products not just for my son but also for our school. We are very fortunate to have a great homeschooling community where I live. There are always classes, sports, programs, groups available for homeschoolers. Each week we have a minimum of 3 outings but often have 4 sometimes 5. These outings range from Awana, to homeschool skating, homeschool swimming, pottery class, Robotics learning camp (this was a winner for my son ), mad science club and more. Each of those outings are typically 1-2 hours in length. It gives my son time to socialize without shutting down. He has low social skills and low tolerance in most environments due to sensory overload. We have been working with the Model Me Kids series to reinforce some social cues, how to create friendship and more. The series comes with videos and booklets. Because my son has low written output we did not order the workbook but instead have discussions around what we see in the video and then do some role play. I have already seen a few improvements in his relations with others. Of course that didn't happen overnight!

We are just about to start using the series Superflex: A Superhero Social Thinking Curriculum

I have heard some great things about it from my friends and fellow special needs teachers/parents.

What I have been working on:

This year is my year of wellness. I have been attending some personal development courses, working out independently as well as with my husband using the P90X series.

I have to say, we are only 2 weeks into this program and I am very impressed with the results already. Mind you, we have been pairing this program right now with a 30 day Isagenix program (this is my second time using the 30 day read about my first 30 day program HERE). I can actually see definition in my abdominal area. I took some hideous before pictures (close ups) and will post my results at the end of the program. I am taking photos every week too so you will be able to see a progressive change. My goal is to tone my body and decrease my Body Mass Index (BMI).

I have also started a 30 Day Cleanse group support through e-mail and Facebook!! This has been my one of the highlights of 2011. The people I have been in contact with have been amazing. The group was created to support people through their 30 day cleanse. So not only do I send you daily e-mails with tips but you also receive free information and training through the Facebook page (I created a secret page just for the cleansers), but also participate in discussion, shares and real life situations. I will be there to coach you through the month. I plan to run another one next month too. Happy Birthday

Hello and good day!!

We had a wonderful family weekend and enjoyed celebrating "family" and "love". We don't typically celebrate Valentine's Day on ONE day of the year. We try and make it an every day event but will create a family centered day once a week or sometimes every two weeks just to reconnect. We are fortunate that we get at least 5 meals a week as a family and that is pretty good considering my husband is a shift worker.

Over the weekend my beautiful SIL Jenna celebrated a birthday. This is the card I sent her!! As it turns out I have 3 SILs who celebrate birthdays in February.

Life's lessons and a Lifestyle Challenge

I have never been one for change but somehow it finds me and I am quickly learning that the reason it finds me is because I have a lesson to learn. As many of you know last month I was away on vacation (we went to Disneyland) and immediately after our family vacation I went to a course called Beyond Courage with David Wood. Interestingly, attending the course was not something I had originally intended however things seemed to line up for me to be there including being in California the day it started. I found lots of reasons why I shouldn't go but one of the greatest reasons was fear. And then something within said "it's time to face up Alli!"

Honestly, who wants to face the things we fear head on? Beyond Courage seemed to scream that and part of me was afraid to know what was stopping me in life. Beyond Courage turned out to be everything I needed. I was able to awaken to my life adventure and connect with myself on a whole new level. Although I had the BEST 7 days with my family at Disneyland (we have been saving for this trip for years now so it was a dream to see it happen and then actually have that family time) Beyond Courage was the BEST 5 days of my life because everything I learned I will use EVERY day for the rest of my life. I faced more fears and learned more lessons than I could imagine. Leaving Beyond Courage I was fearless, ready to take on the world and filled with hope. And as you know I came home to my first challenge. While Grandma's surgery was successful her recovery has been slow. Given her age this was expected but I am not sure I was ready for this new road. Or was I? Beyond Courage definitely set the stage for this; albeit I was not ready to take those new lessons and apply them right away. Initially I curled into a ball and wanted to run away but some of my great friends who also attended Beyond Courage reminded me of the tools I learned and challenged me to put them in action. I also need to say that my mum has also been a huge part in helping me with this new role in life. One of the reasons I haven't been posting much is that I have been caring for grandma. When she first left the hospital my mum looked after her for 8 days. After that, grandma came home and so began my new responsibilities. Grandma needed quite a lot of care including assistance with walking, writing, taking her pills, caring for her sutures, making meals, cleaning her space, driving to and from appointments, bathing, coordinating long term care and so much more. Last Saturday home support began coming to the house daily. I have also been in charge of making OT appointments, doctors appointments, nurse appointments, etc. We have about 1-2 different "support people" coming to the house each day to help her regain her strength, work on cognition in addition to helping her make a meal, do laundry, bathe, and make her bed.
Long ago I agreed to look after my grandma (I even remember being about 13 and telling her she would live with me someday) but until that very moment of experiencing the "look after" part I had no idea what it would entail. One of the hardest parts of the day is hearing her ask a question over and over again after I told her the information. We are still hopeful that she is experiencing the side effects of the surgery. Some days are harder than others. I have filled out more paperwork and talked to more professionals than I have ever spoke to in such a short period of time. I am grateful that there is so much support for the elderly. I was very touched that Red Cross lends items to those in need (on a referral basis) so that you can become acquainted with the items and purchase them if they are needed for long term (bath seat, bed rails, walkers, wheelchairs and more!). Mum was able to get a handicap parking pass for grandma so that when we drive her to and from her appointments she has a shorter distance to walk. Her pain level is still quite high. She is walking slowly but I praise God that she is able to walk at all especially given the prospect that she was going to lose her leg or both. I love her to bits and I am SO grateful to have another Christmas with her.

Grandma had an angioplasty done on her leg in 2006. The valve stopped working in her artery due to plaque build up and caused her leg to lose the pulse and severe pain in her foot. The plaque build it was due to her choice of foods and lifestyle. Her cholesterol is high and of course her age also played a factor. Grandma's lesson to us (she said this) "Don't wait until your sick to get healthy! Be healthy so you don't get sick."

If I can encourage you to learn anything from this it is that today is your NOW. You have the choice to make changes in your lifestyle. What we do TODAY has an effect on TOMORROW. Plan ahead and enjoy the adventures that are planned for your life. There is no age limit on this whether you are 6 or 90 you can make a difference in your health.

So again, please join me and we can support each other through this process. I am SO excited about 2011. I am ready to be my true authentic self. I will continue to be transparent to the world. I am ready to share and embrace change and continue to thrive despite the challenges put forth before me. Remember what they say when they explain the airplane procedures "put on your mask before you put on someone else's" Well the same holds true in life. You can only effectively care for those around you if you care for you first. It's a hard thing to do but let me stress it is an important thing to do. You need to be healthy to look after others! Update and a card!

Hello peeps!! I am happy to report that after 9 days grandma was released from hospital yesterday. She has a long road ahead for recovery but she is out of the hospital and is feeling better so I am ready to celebrate. Thank you so much for your e-mails and comments recently. I know many of you have been supporting me through Facebook too. THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. You supported me and gave me strength to face each day.

We will be making some big changes in the family as grandma will not be driving for 6+ weeks and has plenty of appointments, OT visits, along with home care providers stopping by. She is using a walker to move about and that also means we need to change the way her furniture is laid out and remove some of her furniture too. Because she lives with us, we may also be changing our eating plans as she used to come upstairs to eat with us...so now we may be eating with her downstairs. Mum has taken on the enormous duty to look after her this coming week. Grandma requires 24/7 care, including changing her bandages (she has 59 staples in her leg right now), cooking, memory work, exercise/physio and driving her to and from appointments. Her short term memory has been greatly affected and so I am asking that if you or a loved one has gone through this and has some methods or strategies they would like to suggest I would appreciate it. She has been clinically referred to as suffering from delirium however there has been some talk of dementia. Only time will tell.

On that note, I had a recent card appear in Card Creations: Favorite Occasions, Vol. 2. If you haven't picked up this issue I highly recommend it! The cards are spectacular.

One of my fav stamp sets is Dawn McVey's Signature Greetings from PTI! I love her fun combination personal handwriting and computer font. If you didn't know I am a typography fan and fresh combos make me excited! And I seriously love the sentiment "Girly You Rock!"

It's JIFFY time!

Hello everyone!! I am so happy to be sharing a post today. As you know I have been away on vacation for most of November and upon returning home learned that my grandmother (who lives with us) was having problems to the point that she was in surgery this past Friday. Needless to say the 4 days in between getting home and surgery were a whirlwind (doctors, specialists, driving, surgeons, snow storms and more!). My grandmother had a successful surgery but has had a difficult time recovering and has even had some set backs in recent days. By the time this posts I will be getting ready to leave to see her again as she is in a hospital 1.5 hours away. Fortunately mum is able to stay in the same city and visit her daily. We have a long road ahead and we are not sure what to expect especially with the disorientation. We are just grateful the doctors were able to save her legs and that she made it through the surgery.

On that note, I am THRILLED to share a Jiffy post with you. I have missed the last few Jiffy posts but was determined to let the creative juices flow during this stressful time. We all need stamp therapy right?! If you don't know, every month the J(ust)F(or)F(un) crew collaborate for an exciting challenge using the same patterned paper and stamped image. This month I picked the patterned paper called Brrr from the Tradition collection by Fancy Pants Designs and Kim picked the ultra cute monkey images from the set Monkey Gone Bananas by Your Next Stamp.

Take Three: Winter Day 5

Here we are...the final day of Take Three: Winter previews!! Thank you again for your support and your comments. It's been nice to be back for 5 days of posts. I am sure you have been wondering where I have been...me too!!! LOL. I will be absent from tonight's (Nov 14th) forum party as I am currently away on vacation with my family. I wanted to send out a special shout out to my mum who has been looking after my home and dog for the past week too!! After the family vacation I will be absent again as I will be attending a conference--I will be sure to tell you all about it too because I hear it is life changing.

My final card for the release is a special one. I absolutely adore the muted look of flashy patterned paper behind vellum. I created a card base and covered it with vellum paper. I also stamped the snowflake images in different colours to match the paper/cardstock colours. As a final touch I stamped the sentiment on top of the vellum and attached baker's twine too. I clipped the bottom of the card to give you a better look at the card :)

Take Three: Winter Day 4

Good day to all!! Thank you for stopping by today...day 4 of the Take Three: Winter previews :) I have been enjoying stamping with these new images and I am LOVING today's sentiments too.

CARD #1

I love CAS cards...but you already know that about me. I am always wowed by stamping white ink on kraft and black cardstock so I thought today I would showcase white on kraft! I began by stamping the different snowflake images, then I coloured them after which I stamped the sentiments below the images. I really love the sentiments used on this card. I know I will be using them for a variety of upcoming projects.

CARD # 2

Using traditional holiday colours, I put together this holiday themed card. I began by stamping the background, followed by the image and then I stamped the sentiment on the cream ribbon.
I distressed the edges and sponged them too. I also added a hint of green ribbon along with a hint of green on the flourish. You'll notice I outlined the inner flourish and added a scalloped edge at the bottom.

INSTRUCTIONS

Create card base, layers and paper scraps. Distress and sponge.
Stamp background and image. Outline inner image using copic marker.
Stamp sentiment on ribbon.
Attach ribbons and adhere scalloped edge
Adhere remaining layers.

Take Three: Winter Day 3

Hello everyone!! How can this be day 3 already? Time flies when you are having fun :)
Thanks so much for stopping by today. I appreciate your comments and thank you so much for the time you take to leave me them...it means so much to me.

As many of you will recognize I am sharing an image today you have seen before in my designs...one that you can mix and match with the snowflake from Holiday Sparkle, as well as the circle stamp from Daily Designs. What I like most about this image is the feeling of movement...a falling snowflake!

I began today's card by stamping the background and sentiment and stamping the image on a separate piece of paper. I placed the image on a piece of felt to give it height and establish it as the focal image. The card is simple in design and easily reproducible.

INSTRUCTIONS

Create card base and layers. Stamp background and sentiment.
Stamp image and cut out. Cut out square felt.
Adhere focal image and remaining layers.

Take Three: Winter Day 2

Hey peeps!!! So glad you dropped by for day 2 of the Take Three: Winter previews! I have some exciting cards to share with you today.

CARD #1

I wanted to create a simple card with some WOW factor. I was pleased with the focal image as it not only shines but it sparkles. I love how the flourish image transcends the seasons and can be used for a number of types of cards.
I started by stamping the image first in white, then in black. Then I placed versamark over the entire image and placed UTEE over top. As it started to dry I sprinkled shimmer glitter over the top. The effect in person is stunning and I am sure the photo does not do the image justice. Next I outlined the card base, stamped the sentiment, attached the ribbon and created a scalloped felt square to raise my focal image from the card.

INSTRUCTIONS

Create card base and create outline using scor-pal.
Stamp image in white, then black. Allow to dry. Stamp versamark overtop.
Pour UTEE over image, heat set and sprinkle glitter.
Cut out stamped image. Cut out scalloped felt.
Attach ribbon trim.
Adhere focal image.

CARD # 2

I began with a card that could be winter themed but with these bright colours I was able to create warmth and excitement (check out that sentiment!!) and make it a card for all seasons. I stamped all the flourish images in white ink and used some watercolour pencils to colour it in. I love that "chalky look" and also love that there are so many elements I can colour in or leave blank. The colour possibilities are endless. I was able to tie in those colours with the cardstock and ribbon.

INSTRUCTIONS

Create card base, layers and paper scraps.
Stamp images, and stamp sentiment. Colour images.
Round corners.
Attach ribbon.
Adhere remaining layers.

Introducing Take Three: Winter

I am thrilled to be back with the final installment of the take three 2010 series...Take Three: Winter. When I first came up with the Take Three series I just loved the idea of creating a window into the life of an image. I decided to alter the placement of the image to give a different look to each of the stamps and yet have the same theme going on. The flourish was the very first image I came up with for this series so I am very excited to be finally using it with my project designs! In addition, I am THRILLED to have an accompanying die to use with this series too.

Today's project just gives me that warm fuzzy feeling. Perhaps it is the colour combination or the ribbon...or maybe it is the distressed edges...oh maybe it's the flourish! Whatever it is I can't wait to share it with you.

I began by creating a faux wash and I followed it by stamping the background using Dawn's fab Damask Design set. I felt these images were a perfect mix for the flourish. Next I distressed the edges, added piece of cardstock to the bottom, stamped the sentiment, attached the ribbon and adhered it to the card base and second layer. Then I stamped the flourish, mounted it on a piece of cardstock and distressed the edges. I also outlined the inner flourish with a Copic C-1 marker. I adhered it using pop dots.

**faux wash: use a straight edge paint brush on your ink pad, press into pad, and paint over cardstock to achieve desired look. I did this with several colours including a caramel and white ink pad.
